Since you insist on comparing the Charger SRT8 to the M3... http://www.kbb.com/compare-cars/overview/2010-dodge-charger-261437-vs-2011-bmw-m3-265098 Note that the M3 is considered a COMPACT, even with four doors, AND has an MSRP that's about $17k HIGHER than our fat assed, numb-handling Chargers. It has a V8 with less displacement. Now if you really want as close as you can get Apples to Apples comparison between the vaunted BMW and our redneck performance cars... try this: http://www.kbb.com/compare-cars/ove...r-261437-vs-2010-bmw-m5-249332?ghostid=360068 Even the M5 is considered smaller (mid-size, not large) and costs more than TWICE the SRT8. It has a V10 with smaller displacement. So yeah, there's a reason the BMWs are more nimble, they're significantly trimmer! That's what makes them European imports. In Europe they have teensy little roads which necessitate teensy little cars, even the luxury ones. Out here we can have the land yachts. Personally, I'd rather have a land yacht that costs half as much, even if it means its not as light on its "feet" as something like a BMW.
Tam, its apples and pears, sorry but I can´t compare the two (or three) One is an american muscle car, the other is Europes finest, at a cost mind you, at a cost... Fredrik:hug: As you know I´ve made my choice!
Who is this other Jason? I keep seeing his name and for instant I think there is a beef with me... LOL ps - not a big fan of the ultimate driving machine over here!
OH HELLLLLL NO!!! Who's the "other" Jason?!?! I am formerly Mustangsally... Mothermopar... "Momo"... a founding member of the Eastlake Queertette! I was drueling over SRT's before they even arrived... I wrecked my Mustang "deliberately" to get the SRT! While I've been absent, make no mistake nor slight of the internet forum legend that is I! I have helped define what is SRT internet slur and obscene... I have seen Ron piss on one foot while hobbled! I have helped topple internet SRT empires and have helped build them! I AM MOMO!!!
Make no mistake, I don't DIRECTLY compare the vehicles... but what makes a BMW a great car, I feel, SHOULD be implemented on our SRTs... What MY SRT lacks is the handling and "feel" for the road that a BMW has... all I'm saying is that Dodge needs to incorporate the same basic concepts into the SRT. That is all! I prefer the SRT in every way EXCEPT handling/feel. Plain and simple. And... I'd pay more for an SRT that did incorporate these attributes to a higher degree to bring it more in line with the worlds "best" cars. Its got everything else, IMO... it just needs to be refined from the factory is all.
I'm hoping the new SRTs won't need suspension mods... It sounds like they're making some good adjustments... Only test drives will tell!
Oh! I was thinking "globally" about the SRT, not my particular car. I'm just as concerned about how the SRTs compete against the world as I am about my personal perceptions of them... for the sake of the brand, I hope there are significant improvements that'll draw non-SRT folks to them. That's what I'm sayin'! Let's not forget, I've been a Mopar guy at heart since I can remember... I may appreciate and may even someday own a different performance vehicle, but my heart is always with Dodge and I want them to succeed.
Hogwash! I did see it... but will 100's of people be able to drive the 392 for a REAL test drive? I say "negative ghost rider, the pattern is full"... :usflag:
Considering I've witnessed some brain-dead moron break the gas pedal off a 300 SRT by stomping it as hard as he could at a SRT:Track Experience, yeah, I don't think so.
