IS anyone runnig these tires? They have a nice stagger set that I may be running next and I was wondering if there are any opinions. The KDW has a 295/40/20 rear and a 245/40/20 front that would make a nice setup. The KDW is Y rated with a 300 treadwear and a cool tread cut. My 275/40/20 Vreds are Y rated and have a 280 Treadwear and are showing wear at 15K, so I should get 20K out of these.
Unless things have changed, treadwear ratings are not standardized. That means that manufacturers are free to use whatever numbers and scale they want. The result is that treadwear ratings are usually only valid as a relative measure within a manufacturer's line. So you would expect a Goodyear 300 to last longer than a Goodyear 280. No guarantees that a Goodyear 300 is going to last longer than a Vredestein 280. Having said that, manufacturers generally keep their numbers in the same ballpark.
GREAT tires. Ran them on my Dad's Mustang and my brothers 400+ rwhp 240SX before he got hired by Yokohama. He runs Yok's now for obvious reasons LOL.
Actually I found out the ones in the pic are the KDW 2. The 2nd generation of the KDW. I thought the tread pattern on the KDW 2 above may be noisy. Here is the KDW. Same sizes and specs.
Looks lie the KDW 2 has noise issues. I am getting that over at LXForums also. I wonder if I can still find the KDW sizes? They still have the 295/40/20 in the KDW but the front may have to go to 255/35/20 and I don't realy like the small sidewall look....but a 35 might not be too bad. It wil definately make the 295/40 on the rear look tough. ..
haha, a google of "KDW2 review" and almost every little excerpt/summary has the words "noisy", "huge noise", "loud", ... That is a really cool looking tread pattern though
That noise is usually inherent of tires with the bigger "block" cuts in the tread. My Vreds get noisy sometimes on the concrete freeways with the rain grooves in the road. They have pretty big "blocks" in them too, but they are smooth and quiet on other roads.
