Thanks momo thats what alot of people have been telling me. I used to love skiing and other winter stuff but that is pretty much gone in nm. I'm excited seems like a cool place with some really cool people. I am sure my huskies will love the winters too.

    Are radar detectors legal?
Do they use unmarked cars for traffic enforcement?
How much over is go straight to jail, we will tow your car?

    Detectors are legal.
Unmarked cars? Not that I know of, but in NYS, the patrolmen can hide.
Speeding and jail? Beats me. The fastest thing I owned when I lived in NY was a Spirit with a 150 HP V-6! LOL Btw, LOVED that car.

    Yes.

Yes, but as far as I know only NYSP do. Have yet to see a local unmarked. They are "unmarked" but you can tell cause they have the lights on the dash and in the rear window. Along with the police interceptor package.

Twice the speed limit but its really the officers digression. I know a Trooper and while they can, they wont take you away until they feel that you are being reckless and "endangering the public"

Lets see I think I have the tires picked out, gotta get a seat heater for the Jeep so I am not murdered by the wife (yes I said wife but that is a different post).

What about engine block heaters, battery heaters etc?

Those are probably not necessary (i never needed one when i lived in vt and it hit -21 there a few times)...but a remote start is vital lol

There are a bunch of starters now that work with a manual transmission to bypass the clutch.

And that wont help you when your at work/the stores and there is a foot of snow on your car ;) haha

Engine heater? Never needed it. Remote start? Never had one, but many in my family back there have them... those are indeed nice. All defrosted/de-iced and toasty warm inside... For winter, always keep a set of winter gloves, hat, blanket, small shovel and/or kitty litter (for traction) in the car in case you get stuck somewhere during the cold months. You may want to buy stock in windshield washer fluid, btw. LOL

Oppss... forgot to mention rock salt in car too (to melt ice).

If you have a fireplace, ash works well for traction alsol....prestone i think makes a spray deiicer that is also good to keep handy.

And get the good washr fluid...the cheap stuff can and will freeze on your wiindshield when it gets cold cold.
