I apologize, because i didn't take many pictures of install. I didn't think it was necessary, because there are already plenty of threads on this mod. I just did it a little differently. Most tap into the cig lighter, i just replaced it with the cutout switch, which i then ran the line under lower dash panel, beneath the steering wheel. Zipped it to the only rubber grommet i could find leading out into the engine bay, then bunched the lines up and zipped it. I tucked it up around the wiper blade motor untill the cutouts could be welded on. here's the few pics of have of the interior and grommet area to run the line out from. cig lighter assembly removed: cutout switch: under the drivers dash, grommet opening: not necessary to remove lower dash panel to get to it. engine bay opening:
Lou's Custom Exhaust (Peabody, MA) $80 installed: mounting plate received wasn't fully welded and one the adapter was slanted, which means would cause a bad seal and leak. mounting plates: Lou's fixed both issues and did an awesome job running the two wires to the cutouts. gotta admit, better than i expected and something i didn't think about. drivers side: pax side:
Here's a vid of cutouts sitting. I will try to get some of drive by soon... btw, video does this mod no justice. It's louder and meaner in person. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1HzDeYS6bXE
Thanks bro! yeah, just thinking how often i'll actually open these up. did by accident at a red light, then the light turned green, i went off and the car beside me swurved. i was like, "shit" and looked back...it was an elderly couple.. oops! i better becareful, not to cause a heart attack.
Thanks sweetheart! :0 Thanks! Yeah, figured I'll rarely have them wide open, mostly half. Wide open is a little to much. Although, if there's a mustang or camero next to me, always wide open.
How about the gaskets? I thought I recalled issues with the butterfly and the way it sealed up when closed due to thermal swings...did you order any special gaskets for the bill of materials for construction like an upgrade or anything? Have they fixed this problem? You mention that the quality of the stub pipe alignment and welds was not 100%, and this is what concerns me about this mod.....but it sure must sound good when you open 'em up after you are all warmed up. Thanks for the writeup.
The quality on mine was FLAWLESS and no problems welding it up! Here is a video of mine on my 05 Mag R/T...
Thanks bratha! according to the owner, Dave, he's claims he's beef'd everything up and there shouldn't be as many issues. He also said that he's working on another manufacture for gaskets, because he knows the quality on the batch he had, sucked! He sent me high heat rtv silicone that seems to work so far. i also ordered gaskets from Modern Muscle and waiting on those. my main complaint and conern of course is the customer service. seems that you have to be lucky to get a hold of him or get your issues resolved. some say great things and many don't. imo, i love this mod and will just have to deal with issues when they come. i'm ordering cover plates as well, just in case i do have issues down to road. Appreciate it Mikey! It would sound badazz!!!! would love to hear it on a 426 or 440 as well.
Dammit!!!!!!!!!! you killed my computer speakers.. lol sounds awesome!!!! congrats! i need to use a better digital camera or my camcorder instead. the sound quality on them do it no justice. thanks for sharing!
Sorry, it did come out a bit loud, however remember this is on my STOCK 05 R/T; with NO mods other than a Big Bully CAI and flowmaster 40's with Blastin' Bob's tips! My friends wanted me to put all this on my SRT; but I like my SRT stock!
The ones I installed on the jeep did have to go back to DMH they butterfly was "flapping" causing a noise, no questions asked DMH sent him out a new set and they look different.
Sounds great! They are a fun mod, huh? Every now & then I miss not having mine anymore. Sold my stock mids when I went to HF Cats. Replaced my cut-out switch with a line-lock switch...lol. I loved giving them ricer dudes a earful of 6.1 any chance I got!
Nice guys, cutouts are a ton of fun ya'lls sound great. Hmmmm.... you would like to hear them on a 426, I should be able to rec. that for you. With luck soon X fingers. I wonder if the blower will further change the sound of them on the stroker ?
