    hey guys :) I just changed my oil and filter and noticed that the oil pressure is about 55-60 at idle (immediately after the change). I've never really paid attention to this before, but it seems high.... what is normal for our 6.1 engines?

    If this is too high, what does it indicate?

    3. Oil Pressure:

    * Curb Idle–25 kPa (4 psi) minimum
    * 3000 rpm–170 - 758 kPa (25 - 110 psi)

    I assume you put 0w/40 or 5w/40 in it?
    Whats it at after warming up?

    generally speaking, pressure is good. no/low pressure is bad.

    Imediately after the change the oil is cool and that gives you higher pressure, still high when the oil is warm?
    Generally pressure is good as Quick said, low pressure is when you should start being nervous...

    Just went to the store.
    65 psi right after firing it cold -- fast idle
    37 psi slow idle after 1 mile to the store, 1 mile back

    Thanks guys! I was a little worried. Drove it about a mile and it was still high. Revved it up slowly climbing to 5,000 rpm and then came back down.

    Now, warm idle is 37psi which I think is what I remember being normal. And a full-blown romp on the pedal (in park) spikes the pressure at 70.

    I guess there was an air bubble or something in there that just needed to get worked through the system.

    Thanks for all the input!
