    Ok,

Ever since I picked up 1bad4dr last year, I have been tracking down an a/c issue. Well ok, I didn't think much of it until Sept of last year when the a/c finally stopped working.

Last month, when I learned that I will need to go out to Phoenix for a week or so in August, I decided that I really needed to get the a/c going. haha

So, I went to my Dealership and had them recharge the freon. Well, three days later, the a/c wasn't working (backing up, the first time I just figured that the freon was decharged from sitting at Techco's shop for four months lol). Well, now I am concerned so I figured that maybe the old Paxton's oil return line (steal braided) had worn the line and finally broke free?

So, I go and buy the discharge line ($30 no biggy) and replace it. 10 minute swap, by the way.

I get the line replaced and go back and get the freon recharged AGAIN... This time my dealership conducts a line pressure test (passes) and adds a green dye. This way, if it happens again, we will be able to find the leak with a black light.

High hopes had me driving around with the a/c on, even though it really wasn't needed, just to ensure that the charge holds. NOPE, four days later, no more cold air. AAAAAAAAARGH!!!

So, this morning I go back to the dealer to discuss possible scenarios. My mechanic, Ed, comes in and we chat for a while. Now keep in mind, my Service Writer is SWAMPPED. He had at least 35 Service Orders on his desk waiting for a Mechanic and another 5 cars left over from yesterday. lol YEa, they are that busy. Chris asks me if I could drop the car off tomorrow for the day. Of course I agreed (not to worry, when they have 1bad4dr OR Maureen's Truck, they stay indoors and the keys locked in the Directors safe). Ed didn't want to wait until tomorrow. He asked if the car was with me, so I said DUH, I didn't walk here. hahahaaha Ed tells me to pull it to the back lube rack so we can check it out. Saweeeeeeeeet! I really do love these guys.

We get the car up on the rack and start to search for leaks with the black light. So far so good. All of the lines and connection spots are perfect, and Ed and I begin to scratch our heads wondering why in the world am I losing the charge???

Then, as we are looking around the condenser area, we spot some green. So further investigation shows loads of green dye at the bottom right corner of the condenser. So now we are looking up, between the Inner Cooler and Condenser. B I N G O, we find the problem.

It so happens that the Techco Inner Cooler brackets were mounted incorrectly and have rubbed a fricking hole the size of a dime into the condenser. Sigh!!!!

So, needless to say, I had to order a new condenser, and they are NOT cheap. WOW! Fortunately I get a fairly decent discount, so $200 later...

Condenser comes in tomorrow, so I will be busy tomorrow evening installing the new condenser.

    Techco strikes AGAIN.... lol

Well at least you found the issue, mine is still giving "check engine" with no code... Haven´t changed the tranny oil yet as the shop is closed for vacation and I´ve been busy with my driveway.
Nice to have AC, I´d hate to be without it and I live in a lot colder climate than you.

    Fredrik:)

contact inspection and hose contact really one of those little things that means a lot. Eddie covered all of the steel lines on the techco with heater house shroud in the rear. Otherwise, you can see where contact with the rear heater hoses could be fatal in time. Sorry to hear about the contact woes wearing through in other places.
