    So,

Sunday convinced me of the need for a LSD lol.

The installer I normally use (Tony Shippan) is not willing to do an LSD install as he does not feel he has the exact tooling necessary to do it 100%, and if he can not do it 100% he doesnt want to even try. Tony has been more than excellent in handling these types of issues for me so hearing him say that as a concern, makes me VERY concerned about the possible purchase/install of something that will cost as much as an LSD costs. I am sure i can find someone who is willing to do it, but its a matter of finding someone who i am comfortable with doing it (or at least talking tony into doing it lol).

Erik, You are probably the only person not tony that I would be cool with touching my car. If your willing to do it, shoot me a PM and we can discuss.

    So,

    the question is.

Does tony have a real concern about the shims in the LSD (that's what he says hes not equipped to handle, fabbing up and installing the correct shims from what i understand), or is it a non issue?

Good choice going with Erik. I know Ralph did a LSD install a few months ago. I think he said there weren't any shims for the SRT diff. I could be wrong though. Get a Getrag, then you don't have to worry about shims at all. :)

Stevo, i think you can buy a 3.23 or 3.55 rear end set up with a Wavetrac LSD for the 215 axles. Check with BMC.

I already have DSS Axles...I really am not keen on just dumping them and getting the whole setup.

Calm down Stevo, he's not talking about dumping your axles. I think he means that someone may be offering a core service where they install the LSD in the diff and all you need to do at home is swap out the whole pumpkin. You can also add gears at that time too if that is something you want.

You may also want to look for any local places that specialize in differentials. You (or Erik) could remove the pumpkin, take it to the shop so they can install the LSD, and then re-install the whole unit.

I send my stuff out Steve....I don't have the kits for the snap rings either.Check with Josh at HHP.....they have an exchange program. I send my stuff down to Arrington for LSD's and Gears, but I don't have a spare diff to use.

My bad if that came off douchy...i was doing 5 things at once and typed it fast lol.

There arent any good places around here cept for Tony...and hes not really "around here"...I drive an hour to him for any fix em up needs. I think you guys and Cam should just move out here haha.

So if I read what you said right, which is very possible that i did not:

Josh may have a swap where he sends you a LSD Diff installed, and you just swap out yours and return the core.

Arrington needs your original dif gears in order to do the install and can send yours back once the LSD is installed for you to put back in the car?

    I have a core ... pulled from a pretty new car. :)

I got your AIM ping last night and sent you one back but I think you were gone. Lemme know if you want me to get this built and sent to you ... we work with Arrington and Paramount to have it done.

Steve, I have DSS axles. I had a whole new Wavetrac rear with Richmond 3.23 gears set in a used pumpkin by Unitrax in Cali. They shipped the pumpkin to SVS where I had some work done. I did the swap and sent my stock pumpkin back for the core. Done deal.

I went through HHP and if this is the route you want to go I imagine there would be other vendors that could do the same thing. HHP gave me a killer deal and didn't charge me a core since I swapped the pumpkins at SVS and they do business together enough where Jeff @ HHP was confident he would get the core back.

So far, ZERO issues with the entire rear end, except that I am on my way to another rear tire change in 3k miles like the last set ;)

Jon, try the Nitto 20" NT555R for your everyday street tire. Great tire on the street, excellent traction for daily use.
