I usually don't post too much about my personal life, mainly because I don't think any of you would find it very interesting. I do have to rant a bit about something that happened this past weekend.

A little back story. My wife has 2 friends from childhood that I've gotten to know over the past 10 year and now consider my friends too.

About 10 days ago, one of those friend's father passed away after a few years of kidney failure and heart disease. It was his 12th, yes 12th, heart attack that finally took his life.

There was a memorial service on Friday and funeral on Saturday. My wife left early Friday morning and was supporting her friend for 2 days straight. Their 3rd friend didn't attend the memorial service on Friday, but did attend the funeral Saturday. The strange part was that she and her husband left like a bat out of hell once the doors in the back of the church opened. No hugs, no sorry for your loss, no goodbye, no attending the burial and reception, no explanation...

Through the grapevine we found out that she left to attend the Dodgers/Cubs game that afternoon! I guess 20 years of friendship is trumped by a baseball game. :mouth:
So to a now former friend, this one is for you. F you. (by the way, we need a middle finger smilie)

That stinks. Its when you're down and out that you find out who your friends really are. I've learned from experience that its easier assuming I'm on my own and being surprised when friends help out than to expect help and be disappointed when I get no help. Still, paying your respects means giving up maybe an inning of a baseball game, and its not like its playoffs or something. Jeez.

Well sometimes you find out, really shitty time to display your friendship in that way!
I lost my oldes friend last winter, he stood me up bigtime and didn´t even call with and excuse (and hasn´t called since..), we were close friends for over 30 years.
I agree on the missing smiley...

Times of need really show you who your friends really are.

just playing devils advocate here adam, but maybe you and the wifey dont know the whole story. its possible, they came to the funeral just out of respect and then left for a baseball game. if my girlfriends best friends' father passed away after so many heart attacks, i too would have done what i wanted after the funeral. its not very sensitive but then again, it isnt her best friend that died, but her family member. i guess its just what your personal belief is and how you were raised.

when someone dies in my family its not a bit affair. we gather, remember the dead and then cope with it how we feel best. if i had tix to a dodger/giants game you best believe id be on my way to the ballpark asap. ;)

    awesome song btw.

I know you guys don't know this woman, but if the roles were reversed she would have thrown a fit. She's just one of those selfish people that wants to have lots of friends, but doesn't give anything in return to earn/keep them.

My wife has said several times that if she met her now instead of childhood, they wouldn't be friends.

Personally, I don't have a problem with them going to the game but more the sneaking around about it. I'm sure the guy that lost his father wouldn't have minded if she told him. The fact that they snuck-out shows me that she knew it wasn't the right thing to do to a friend.

I will also say that I'm a bit sensitive about it too because I lost a parent at a young age and my friends were what got me through it. So seeing a friend leave another in this situation really bothers me.

I'm glad you liked the song. I grew up in Boston and the Bosstones were just a club band there when I started listening to them. I still love their music.

That was surely done in very poor taste! My ex wife comes from a large family and when we split up... seems like all of OUR so called friends NOW only hang out with her side of the family! Guess my count of ONE doesn't mean much... either that or they are NOW jealous of my new wife and our FOUR MAGNUMS... LOL
