A guy says he repositions his coolant fans and experiences a sudden increase in coolant temperature. The advise, from a Vendor (who sells coolant) and a site moderator? Change the coolant for better heat transfer, AND to put a higher temp thermostat in to restrict and slow down coolant flow for better heat transfer. WOOHOO! http://www.chargerforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=132038
omfg rotglmfao... The vendor should shot and buried. The Super Moderator should be kicked in the nutz and fired... Yea, I would like to know about these additional fans as well? hahahahaha Likely the guy didn't plug the fans back in, OR, his high speed fan is bad... Tools.
Dahahaha, outstanding. I just can't figure out why people can't grasp the concept of the cooling system. There just aren't that many things in play. T-stat : determines min temp Fans : determine max temp (*) * if system cooling capacity is insufficient it will boil over. You will NEVER see a system in a stable condition at a temp between the min and max. The temperature will ALWAYS be moving towards one or the other (ok, in theory you could, but never in practice). If you maintain an operating condition for a while the temp WILL end up at either the min (t-stat) or max (fans). i.e. city driving -> max temp determined by fans, highway cruising -> min temp determined by t-stat. simple... it's just not that hard. The guy is running 220-225 (heh, anyone find that to be a strange coincidence that it's right at the stock fan temps?). If he actually managed to install the t-stat he thinks he did then that's where his fans are turning on. Since it doesn't just continue up and boil over then the fans are doing the job and the cooling capacity of the system is sufficient. It won't matter if he moves them. If he does manage to get better air flow then the fans might not have to turn on and it would run down at the t-stat temp. The guy said he had to "move the fans" so he's done something "unusual" under the hood... nobody bothered to ask about that and he decided it wasn't important to offer that information. yeesh... you got to give them credit though. They can get you to bang your head against the wall clean over on another forum!
actually dave, i just posted over there the exact questions as to why the fans were moved and to where........ i just get a kick out of the mechanical aptitude of some of the folks over there! lol
LOLOL. Apparently he needs more effecient coolant than what 8 billion cars are running, oh and we better tweak his 12.23W45.09 oil up just a bit. That'll do it. Not knocking BND stuff well, because I have never tried it...but CMON PEOPLE! SUper Mod jumps in and now we are going to restrict coolant flow that we get more dwell time in the radiator which will allow MORE heat to be absorbed. This is a MOD and a VENDOR telling people this crap. /leaves to go see what Chris posted...lol oh, and Dave...EXACTLY! It isn't rocket science!!! lol
jon - i swear to you, my radiator can barely be seen from all the crap i have installed in front of it to cool other things for the car and i still never see temps over 190 when the car is moving....... its all about fans being in the right place and coming on at the correct times to complement the lower tstat....... yeah, its not rocket science.....even if dave tries to make is look it is! lol
I don't even want to look at the thread. Is the coolant a special magic one from a vendor that sells magic fluids that will do everything from curing aids to creating erections?
lol, the guy is maintaining 220 - 225* The vendor is going to sell him * new super heat transfer coolant * new super special oil * larger radiator and assorted hardware coming soon. oh yea, and some sort of super special restrictor t-stat so the coolant has more dwell time in the radiator.
that is a great thread. lol. i love it when people are just trying to sell their product instead of fixing the problem.
I've seen them push special tranny fluid and special rear end lube for problems that almost certainly have nothing to do with poor quality fluids. I'm sure they have special CAI filter fluid that will boost horsepower as well as horn fluid, battery fluid, seat belt fluid, power window fluid and anything else you can imagine.
Bwwaaaahahaha, I´m pissing myself! I´m sure as h*ll no supermecanic, I don´t even like wrenching, but I´m not a complete halfwhit. Ok, the guy moved his fans, to where? The front of the radiator? If he didn´t reverse the fanmotors or change blades it will SUCK hot air from the enginebay and defietly restrict airflow when moving... That COULD be a thought! Changing coolant fluids... Changing the oil... Hahahahaha Even Ulrica had a good laugh at this when I read it loud to her... Fredrikopcorn:
Dave, I love you man. bwahahahaha And yea, I HAD to make a post as well... I am now waiting for the Super Mod to BAN me. haha
