    Allright, shes up and running!
Not got the guages dialed in quite right but most of it.
The thing is, every now and then the "check engine" light goes on, she jerks quite hard when I put her in drive, hook up the predator but no trouble code!
If I leave it at that the light is still on, and I´ve noticed a small hesitation from time to time going into medium throttle.
If I erase all troublecodes its back to normal.
    Any idea???

Anyway, I admit to having bad fuel to start with, got a BIG nock and troublecode "random misfire", got better fuel and even fuelbooster so thats sorted, but it doesen´t feel quite as "angry" as it did to start with, could I have burnt a valve?
She runs nice and smooth and since she got the fuel she deserves and craves the only trouble is listed above.
Oh, going part throttle, just before going into closed loop the cat temp goes up, seen 1750 witch seems a lot...

Will try and post a film soooooooon....

    Fredrik:miner:

PS. Anyone has any rears lying around, mine are soon finished...

fredrik - the cat temps are a pre-determined number based on a bunch of different parameters....... at least that is how i understand it to be. bottomline, it is not quite as accurate as a true egt reading. with that said, i have monitor mine as well, and i NEVER see a number that high...even after beating the crap out of the car or at the end of the drag strip before shutting down. is your boost gauge & a/f gauge hooked up and working correctly??? if you are in part thottle boost during open loop, this is when things can get dicey for a stock motor. i know there will be people telling you how great the "canned" tune is from vortech, but i still do not recommend spending a lot of time in part throttle boost situations! these are all the things i was explaining to you when we met in orlando. also, was the random misfire code followed with a number or just 00????

    Are you up Chris?
As soon as I get into closed loop the temp goes down, haven´t spent much time there as I clearly remember our chat.
Beating the car on full throttle it seems to work just fine.
The "random missfire" was followed by -0300-, the problem whent away as soon as I put better fuel in, at once after that one incident!
Anyway, I´m actually covered by my insurance if I blow the motor...

good news is your random misfire code was that..... and not follow with 03XX, meaning a specific cylinder. likely the fuel as you touched on. closed loop puts more fuel in the mix (to whatever the canned tune is set for) so the cat temps would theoretically drop.

as for the insurance part...... what are you waiting for...... blow that sucker up!!! did i hear you say pwr forged stroker???? lol

I know a guy who might get that to work, he´s on vacation for another week and a half, then I might just do that at fall, all out top speed run should do it, just nail it until the fuel runs out or just keep it before it goes into closed loop...:zorro:
Would be nice if I could use it for the summer though, Ulrica would not be too happy if I blew it right now...LOL

Doh... youse guys got your modes reversed.
Open loop is going to be more fuel - Startup, WOT,
Closed loop is going to be 14.7:1

The cat temps aren't really predetermined, but they are not directly measured. They're calculated/modeled using a bunch of other measurements and readings.

I think I've seen mine up there but I can't remember. The readings can be a lot higher than what you would expect.

I've also heard from a few tuners that the cat temp models are pretty darn accurate.

Something is wrong with the wiring for the guages, or I´m just stupid (not completly out of the question...) so I´ll have a look at that with my electical friend when he get home from work.
Anyway, without putting it on the dyno, just had her out, all is good and well, nice grippy asphalt, about 75 F, stock Goodyear tires, standing still.
Hammer down! It spinns first, second and about 2 - 3 seconds in third on both wheels.
I´m I in the region powerwise????

yeah, something like that..... i always seem to get them backwards for some reason!! lol

no doubt, but i have yet to have anyone ever say they are as accurate as a true egt reading from a dedicated sensor. i have heard the same about cat temps being a pretty decent indicator, but the temps info being based on a lot of pre-set scales..... or something like that! lol

I feel like the McD commercial - I´m loving it...

Now I´m going into "town" to have a beer or several by the harbour, will get back with more after the weekend, wonder how much of a girlfriend I have when we get back...

Any more lights Fredrik? You said you never actually saw a code with the diablo though? That is odd.

Have fun with that car, and when you are ready for more...and if you want to really cash in your insurance we can get you a smaller pulley....then of course a nice BMC/Arrington Shortblock to go along with it ;)

Whoohoo, glad you got her going with the Vortech!!! Can't wait to see some pics, videos, etc. You're doing great, Fredrik!

Kris, aren't you right at 30,000 miles with the Vortech + canned tune now ... daily driving, long trips, drag racing and all?? :) :)

When you are doing the wiring for the gauges...make sure you have the right "kind" of power.

The gauges (depending on type) may "reset themselves" each time they lose power....so if you have gauges set to a power source that is for accessories, you would have them be off because when the car starts...they will temporarily drop power then re powerup (reset) when the ignition starts the car.

You need to find "key'ed on power" as it has been explained to me...meaning the gauges wont turn on until the car itself is on.

I´ll look into all this when the beers go out of my system, just comming home from town on my BICYKLE I´m all to happy to see her, glowing on my parkway, lit up by the lights, she just looks MEAN!!!
40th birthday or not, I will have a blast driving her for 500 miles!
Had a quick talk to my friend the electician and he had an idea, putting the right values in on the right inputs helps as well...
Feeling really great about everything at the moment and cant wait for the Quaife to go in as well.
