Genetics are funny, especially when it comes to teeth. Somewhere in my ancestral background, there were the people who had big old mastodon jaws and the teeth to go with them. Then there were the people who had tiny little jaws and tiny little teeth or who kept most of their baby teeth. Right? Right. :tooth: So somehow, I get a tiny jaw, big mastodon molars and wisdom teeth, and to accomodate the big teeth, six or so retained baby teeth that were never replaced by permanent teeth, otherwise I'd have room for like twenty teeth. And then there's the diabetes which helps in the yellow teeth and cavities department. *sigh* Fortunately, my Alabama/Tennessee redneck/hillbillyness came thru for me, in that I was blessed with only two big honking wisdom tooth instead of a full set. Trouble is, one was coming in roots first (upper left) and the other was aimed at the tooth in front of it (lower right). So I got the roots first bugger out, and kept it as a trophy. The lower right one, I let that one erupt before it finally caused me enough blood and pain to get it extracted about 5 pm on Monday, with local anesthetic so I could drive home, woo. :miner: I've been trying to take it easy, warm/cold soft foods and liquids, rinse with salt water six or so times a day, all that good stuff. Well tonight I got brave and had a bowl of ramen noodles for dinner. Big mistake. I had to force my hand into my comically small mouth to pull out almost two inches of ramen. I was expecting maybe half an inch, since the damn thing was waving at me in the mirror. Anyway, pull that thing out and I felt faint for maybe the second time in my life. So yeah, I'm going to be cranky and type-happy while I wait to get back to normal solid food and for this big gaping hole to heal up in a week or two. Yay! :stars: And the 27 teeth thing - I had one molar removed because it went bad because I couldn't brush it well enough to keep it intact, so it got yanked and then the two wisdom teeth makes 30 teeth I had at one point. Needless to say, between my dental issues and the fact that Marc had similar mouth-crowding issues, we'll be taking Madeline to the dentist as soon as she's ready, hopefully we can take care of some stuff head on, instead of her having to deal with the pain and misery as an adult with a toddler who doesn't get why mommy feels like roadkill. Now you know why I don't like to smile for pictures and yes, when I get back to work, I'm looking at getting my teeth fixed so I can smile more. :bag: Anyway, I now return you to whatever it is you were doing. :bye:
