Until you actually drive one, it is hard to explain...lol. My good friend bought this a few months ago. Whatever you do, don't have a few beers and think you are even remotely in control of this coffin on wheels.
Best friend had one of the 454 big blocks (last year they made them?). The suspension was not very compliant but you never felt like you were going to roll over (it was very hot inside)
big bird mobile .. I'm with Kyle .. I like my cars like I like my women, black and fast ... and clean lol
Yeah, drove one just like..even same color...power is unbelievable....if I was buying a 2 seat sports car the Z06 would be my choice....like it better than even the Viper....both are about same in power but the vette is more driver friendly...
LOL Better still, don't drink and drive at all regardless of what you're hopping into! Never liked Corvettes, I'm sure they are fast but just far too common and cliche. I'll stick to my big truck and some classic US iron when USA were easily #1 in the car industry.......oh the good ole days.
I got to drive one for a full day at Bondurant a few years ago...http://bondurant.com/high_performance_driving_school/z06_experience The thing is unbelievable and as Larry mentioned very friendly. I got to drive one for a day after five days in Mustang GT's and Cadillac CTS-V's. Bob Bondurant took us for a hot lap prior to allowing us to drive them. I was unable to reach the ZO6's full potential on a closed road course mainly because I was scared shitless of it's capabilities! After the hot lap with Bob I had to clean my shorts! Awesome car.
I will always associate corvettes with old farts. Maybe its from living just down the road from the Corvette museum when I was in high school, seeing the parades of old farts driving their corvettes to the museum. The Z06s and ZR1s I respect because they can eat the Charger for lunch and the owners tend to get all predatory when they see me, but still, old farts. I like the Viper better because its like a wild horse, you really gotta be on top of your sh*t to handle one, and not some old fart who can afford a corvette. Almost forgot... Barbie...that's the other thing I associate with corvettes. You won't see Barbie in a light pink LX or Viper or other mopar, nope. A corvette. Back on topic, I imagine I'd be pretty gun shy with that car on city streets, but it might be fun at the track. But then I'd also like to tune up Marc's IS300 and take it for a spin at Willow Springs. I think I'd like to drive anything at Willow Springs. And you don't even need a few beers to screw up in that car, just some overconfidence or a good distraction (the sometimes middle-aged, large-breasted blonde chick that usually accompanies those old farts in the corvettes).
One day...when my kids are out of the house...I will have one. Atomic Orange please! And like Tam pointed out...I will proudly drive my old fart @ss around town in it! :rofl2:
Couldn't of said it better myself. I see Z06s EVERY day on my commute to work. I still drool when I see the random Viper GTS or SRT10. Plus your average person doesn't know the diff b/t the Z06 and a plain jane auto C6. There is NO slow version of the Viper. :usflag:
Your post really made me laugh. You captured my reason for preference of the viper over the vette, besides of course the acr's continual occupancy of the top of the track time heap and the lines and the power and handling and the non common aspect and the styling and the tradition and the gurgly signature exhaust tone at wot...................
Got a friend who has one, he hasn´t let me drive it yet though... Took a (short) drive in a Lamborghini Gallardo with 560 hp today though, unimaginable acceleration through turns with that four wheel drive, I´ll return to the subject when I have some more miles in it. The Z06 IS one of my dream cars, no one thinks its as fast as it is, just like my Maggie! And I´m soon to be an old fart so what the heck! Fredrik
I think you see mainly "old farts" in both the Viper and Z06 because more people in that age group can afford a $70K+ car....the standard Vettes are in the middle age income class.......We have a 67 yr old woman driving a 1999 Viper here...does that make the Viper an "old bag" car??...LOL...:bye:
The guy who owns the Z06 I posted is 34. No kids, never been married. In fact, he routinely contributes to Wendover and Vegas so that they can keep their grass green and building in good shape...LOL He traded in a 2002 Z06 and a 2007 Jeep GC SRT8 on the yellow 2009 Z06. He truly misses the Jeep!
I'm not saying if you drive a corvette you ARE an old fart, just that that's the general association. As for the older LADY, has she wrecked said viper? Hmm?
She has never wrecked but from what I was told she is afraid to drive hard. She just bought the car for looks.
