We need a guy or two on Saturday the 15th, between 10 am and 4 pm to help with moving furniture between apartments. We've got a truck reserved and a couple of other volunteers, but I'm all for safety in numbers. I figure it won't take more than a couple of hours, maybe even just one trip in the truck and then we can head out for lunch (lots of good places here local).

Its here in Dublin and its a short distance between buildings in the same complex, just both apartments are on the third floor. Marc and I will be moving the little stuff through out the week. We just need people for the big stuff that Saturday. No big appliances, just some bedroom furniture, living room furniture and a couple of tvs.

    Let me know.

    Thanks,
    Tam

Okay, I've just about talked Marc into dumping the old couch so that may be one less thing to have to move up two flights of stairs. Hell I told him to take an axe to the behemoth to make it easier to move. He looked at me like I was nuts. :chair: :)

So far I got one guy who can't make Saturday but he MIGHT come by to help Friday and Saturday it's Raymond and a friend of Marc's. I miss being younger and having more friends who weren't prime candidates for back issues.

honestly, just go to lowes in dublin and hire a couple hombres. they are always hanging out there or in front of home depot. $50 a day is quite fair.

Okay, eff it, we're hiring professionals. Three hours and it'll be done on Saturday.

Tam...take it from a 15 year military veteran who owns a truck! I was everybody's best friend come move time. And trust me when I say military folks move a lot. I like to refer to them as "military acquaintances". True friends are those who are with you IN jail when you screw up. Forum members are more of the "military acquaintance" kind. After 5 years of spending a weekend every few months or so helping "friends" move, I decided that a $100 bill and advice to find help at Home Depot or Lowes...or just renting a truck at Uhaul was the way to go. My wife and I gave into our beliefs of "real" friendship the last time we moved and coughed up the $500 to hire professional help to get things done. I'm such a dick now when folks find out I have a truck I pull out $20 from my wallet and say "go rent a Uhaul...I don't do moves!". LOL

But hey...I'm in the military!! What do we know..we've spent time getting bombed togother...not checking out CAI's. Human nature is a bitch!

Eh, I wanted to hire movers in the first place. Marc and I aren't college age kids with tons of friends who are satisfied with beer and pizza after an afternoon of moving milk crates, wooden spools and a futon. It does sting that we had like two half-offers of help out of pity, but given that the premise was moving heavy furniture between two third floor walk-up (different buildings) apartments on what promises to be a warm day for some one who barely participates in the club anymore and has like nothing to offer in favors (shut up Mains) or thanks. So yeah, mostly I'm cranky with Marc and realize that as friends go, there are in fact limits.

Oh and after Marc spent all weekend hustling boxes and small furniture in his Lexus hatchback, I do miss my big honking Durango with the acres of cargo space. *sigh*
