It looks like a nice setup. I like that its mounted down in the fender and have a better location for the sensor. Im just waiting for a call back from Ryan to get it ordered
You might want the cover for the filter as it is water repellent and you are in rain/hurricane country
Well, my Charger is not my daily driver and I hate taking it out on a iffy day...... Shouldn't the bottom belly panel prevent water from getting to it anyways ?
Yes. I took out the bottom pan and the plastic brake ducts (actually reverse order as the bottom pieces flew off after I took out the brake ducts). I even insulated the area around the filter to make sure the heat from the motor doesn't creep over into the filter.
I want to keep the pan and brake ducts in order. I figured once I had the front fascia off I could see if there was another opening or route I could play around with so I didn't have to worry about the water
Oh, I was not aware...... I'll figure something out and post up some pics.... I have to yank the fascia for a tow hook coming up, I just haven't had it off in a while, didn't think about the filter not fitting because of that........
Brake ducts I put mine on and still have the brake ducts. It took a while but they are still in. Bill
If you do not remove the brake duct, it defeats the real purpose of the system for the SRT's........ it will still draw cooler air than being in the engine bay, but will not get the true effect that it was designed to do. Stacks Bullit and my own "True" CAI work the same way...... remove the brake duct for max benefit... I know my system the filter is so big there is no way the brake ducts will still fit!! lol
LOL Jeff. I recently "lost" my black bottom piece, which ripped pieces off of my Grip front end at the same time. Time to go back to stock.
I just received the CAI today..... In the instructions it says to remove the front wheel and peel back the plastic in the fender but I don't have a rivet gun. I think I will drive the car up on the trailer (It has an open center) drop the plastic shield and go at it that way. Looks fairly cut and dry.... and a nice looking setup
Glad you like the kit. It is easier to drop the plastic shield, but most people dont have access to a lift or ramps. You can get to the filter through the fenderwell, its just a little trickier. If you have any questions when you're installing it, feel free to give us a call at the shop.
Cool, what are your thoughts on the Air Ducts to the brakes ? Do you guys completely remove it ? Cut a hole in it to allow air to hit both ?
If you take out the brake ducts you also need to remove the plastic belly piece below or they will blow off at high speeds anyways. At least that was my experience at the end of the quarter mile at the track The rivets at the wheel well don't require a rivet gun. Just a screwdriver to pop up and your thumb to pop back in.
