As I bought a Vortech kit and some other stuff at BMC while in Florida this weekend is destined for mods! As a starter I thought I´d put it on the dyno to see what kind of figures it starts with. Now, four runs on the dyno because of my dissbelif, 366 hp and also way down on torque... The only explination I have is that it was about 80 degrees in the dyno room and no fan to the front, the airfiltercover was so hot you could hardly touch it, so I knew I was loosing power, but that much!!! It pegged out at 175 mph last summer with 5 adult men in the car and beer for a weekend so I honestly don´t think its all bad, the car feels the same and runs strong. But the numbers were a great disappointment. Keep an eye out for the buildthread this weekend! Fredrik
Fredrik, a 366 baseline Dyno is in the ballpark for a stock SRT, depending on condiditons and type of dyno you will see 360-380 normally from a stock SRT. some dyno's will even run lower. The important thing is you know your baseline now, so when you add the mods you will know how much you really picked up!
We´ll find out, hopefully by sunday! At the moment all the stuff I picked up from you is in the boot, the Quaife won´t be installed this weekend but hopefully in the coming week, can´t wait to bury the pedal and see how long I dare holding it down... Fredrik:thanks:
366 rwhp is normal. why would you think that is low? the hp rating at the crank is 425 and the drivetrain eats some of that up. the fact that you when 175 has nothing to do with hp, you could do it with much less hp as long as the road was long enough. lol
Yup, 425hp-65hp (16% parasitic loss) = 360rwhp... Avg. as they come Don't agree with that. HP, TQ, & DCE... It is all relative to max MPH.
well... i'd say wind resistance is probably the major factor at that speed. I don't think you could do it with less hp in the same car. Probably true that the extra bodies and beer in the car take a bit longer road to get there.
Now before everyone gets to where I´m at (beer and whisky whise...) is there anyone who knows anywhere I can get a buildsheet, like what goes where on the Vortech kit? No wrenchtime tonight, we´ve just unpacked things on the "workbench" and some nice whisky. Fredrik
Next to the bottom on the right is the install manual PDF. http://www.vortechsuperchargers.com...- Supercharging Systems - Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep
well, that's all find and good if you think that 175 is as fast as we can go. hp & tq just determine how fast you get there. i will agree to a point but you can go fast with less hp, just not as quick. no pun intended.
Don't forget Drag Coefficient...and yes, i think max MPH for us is around 170-180 in stock form. If you want to go faster, you will have to change the HP, TQ or DCE variables. Mainly HP and DCE. TQ is what you are refering to about time versus distance wise. Regardless, Freddy will be haulin some Swedish ass soon! :bye:
Thanks a lot Adam, thats what I was looking for! The thing is that 366 hp is calculated at the crank, not RWHP! But I´ll blame the heat and the fact that the fuel is old! By next week we´ll see if I´m right or have a blown engine, and I don´t mean supercharged... Now soon reaching the bottom of the whisky bottle, I´ll just stick to porn for now! Fredrik:headspin:
What? you put it on a dyno and they gave you the results calculated back to the crank?? (or did you do that?). What was the rwhp number? (and I think I sort of remember that our driveline loss is about 17% - 18%?)
You put it in neutral and you get the approximate drivetrainloss, engine power 366, frankly don´t remember the RW number, but we´ll see what happens. Just blowing air at the front helps, once did it on a Volvo, and just pointing the fan at the air intake made 15 hp, that was on a 2.3 litre engine, the SRT is almost 3 times bigger. That should make it say 50 hp lost just in heat, if the dynoroom is 80 degrees, no fan, it gets really hot, really quick! No way it would have reached 175 mph with 366 at the crank. Mind you, AC and everything was still on! But it still feels a bit on the low side... Fredrik
The fuel is 7 months old and not top quality to begin with, the nearest station don´t have 98 octan! Fredrik
AC disengages at WOT. But the PCM does pull power with IATs somewhere over 90* and ECTs somewhere over 190* ... and you were probably WAY over on both. (maybe that number is in Swedish hp )
Swedish Ardenner horses then, cause the car preforms as it should on the street, I have "a secret testing facility" nearby, and its as fast as it has always been. If the intake temps go up to much it should vaporize the fuel before it gets in the cylinder and pull effect, also with the intake temps beeing so high the air gets to thin, thus not expanding as much in the cylinders. I don´t know, maybe I´m just grasping but here goes nothing, install will begin when youre all asleep. Now logging out for now and getting some well needed sleep! Fredrik
fredrik - your power numbers do not seem out of line at all.... although when i first opened the thread, i thought the 366 was WITH the vortech!!! lol i could definately understand you being dissappointed!! lol
I´d drink my way through all of my whisky storage and wouldn´t be sober until next spring... Now its 09.00 hours and operation will begin! Fredrikopcorn:
