So I just have a big benign nodule (13 mm in diameter) in my thyroid instead of a cancery thing they have to cut out and nuke. Yay... the doctor wants to keep an eye on it still. And in addition, my Hemoglobin A1C test (long term blood sugar test) came back better than expected. So health wise I'm doing great aside from the slightly elevated LDL which I'll start taking a statin for. So Madeline will have me around to be the mean old mommy for a few years more. :maddy: And if none of this makes sense, sorry... :bye:
Fantastic news...I have seen first hand what you would have had to go through. My best friend is a thyroid cancer survivor.
My doctor was concerned because its rare that nodules get that darn big and it was a big question mark because its solid and not fluid filled and there's a long history of immuno-related diseases in my family but not thyroid nodules/cancer. After two ultrasounds and three pokes for a biopsy, I got the conclusive all clear. Just a weird growth thing that she'll want to look at now and then.
Yay. Cool, glad to hear. What was your A1C? You can PM if you'd rather. My last was 6.8. but next month, I think is will be a little higher.
I've been a mess the past six months with all the craziness. The A1C back in January was over 10, this last one was 8.2. Not super, but a significant improvement and better than I was expecting. So I'm back on the carb-counting, food measuring, pricking my fingers till they're callouses wagon. All worth it if it means I continue to be healthy and feel better and I'm able to keep up with Madeline.
Taking Madeline and Scarlett out for a few errands tomorrow. Enjoy a run up to Sonic in Tracy to pig out on tater tots, cruise down Main Street Pleasanton, laugh at the BMW drivers who gawk at me (they do!) and maybe dig out the helmet and put it back in its rightful place in the trunk.
Quite an improvement I would say. The under 7 can be tough. My last 2 where 6.2 and 6.8. Feeling it will be in the 7's next month. I've had alot of fluctuation in my numbers the last month. Al lot of stress and stress eating has been involved.
Update: The nodule that was biopsied last year appears stable after a year, but now I got another one growing on the right side. This morning it measured 9mm in diameter so its a candidate for a more detailed sonogram, with a possible biopsy depending on the results. This was one of the little guys before but its grown in just the past 6-9mo. Prayers appreciated. Fixed, that's 9mm not 0.9mm. So about half an inch across.
