yep....Wendy did a number on them. Low 1.6 60' times all day.she was on the verge of an 11sec NA pass at full weight when she heard a loud snap.Luckily it was the end of the day but waiting for the flatbed sucked.

Are the 5.7's the same as the 6.1's?

I have loaded to 2800' many times with more torque.

Just another item that needs to be reinforced, eh? Hats off to Al.

yeah....the entire driveshaft was a mess. The coupler was twisted, the fingers on the driveshaft were all bent and the u-joint was binding pretty bad. That shaft was doomed even if the bolts and coupler had held up.

lol at Chris...Damn E...Are the 5.7's the same as 6.1's...i haven't heard of alot of stoker motor cars coupling bolts taking as shit. And most are pushing that 500lb/ft of torque.

the coupler is different on the 09 and up getrag cars as are the bolts......as far as the 500 lb ft most of them are not making it so low in the power band.

The new style driveshaft and coupler along with the new style bolts would cure the issue but I am not taking a chance as I have seen the driveshaft just twist in half.So a Paramount shaft is on the way.

well... there you have it. Driveshaft failed, you're alive, I'd chalk that up as a success for the loop! :D

10/4...Then the weak link is DS...hence the Paramount you purchased.
How are you/she making 500lb/ft at 3k? What's the cam specs?

The bolts, are they the same dimensional wise, just a higher grade of bolt?

PWR 393 stroker,11.5:1 comp,220/228 cam.....it makes a boatload of power down low and falls off above 6k which is fine cause we are still using the stock 5.7 intake on it.
This was the thread for it....

Yea, i remember the GREEN thread...just not the cam specs. I think the cam is more the reason than the intake....or combo thereof. Falling off at 6k is crucial on the track, you live at 5k +...but i bet its a bad ass street car. Still on pump fuel?
    Bolts?

nah....6200rpm shifts are perfect.....drops the car into crazy torque. It's a full weight Charger R/T with a little 5.7 based stroker running 12.0 all day long in positive DA and she still has some tuning left to do.I forsee this car running N/A 11.90's all day long in the dead of summer with N/A 11.50's spring and fall.......then there's the spray....lol......if you don't think anything of that go look and see how many 5.7 based cars are in the 11's n/a in the summer....I can count them on one hand.

Oh no, don't get me wrong E, i'm just a hair splitter...the difference in .1 is large to me, i'm sure it's a beast of a car. PWR does good stuff, Andy is a good dude.

I understand what you are saying Kyle.....but not all cars live above 6k at the track. The 6.1 base cars do largely to the intake manifold.Thats where they make power. The cams are ground to make power there for the 6.1 base.
On a 5.7 base motor with a 5.7 intake the power will fall of much earlier, but the intake design lends itself to more low end power. So since thats what I had to work with why not design the build around it.The duration on the cam was chosen just because it would compliment the very long runners of the 5.7 intake.
That means that even though the car will trap 114 instead of 118-120, it will get to the line just as quick. And as nice as big number trap speeds are in drag racing all that matters is who gets to the line first.
