I ran my Vortech supercharged 6.1 Charger down the 1/4 mile this last weekend. I am currently using the stock tires and wheels. I was able to rev to about 1500, roll into the throttle, and avoid too much slippage off the line, but at 150-200 feet it shifted and I started to loose traction again. I had to back out of it and then go again. My question is this for the experienced members on here... What is the most street-able solution? I want to drive to the track, run, and then drive away again. Should I consider a LSD, better axles, and tires like the NT05's? Any suggestions or opinions are welcomed. Thanks in advance.... Jay
Use the Nitto 275/45/20 or 305/35/20 NT555R DR's...I pulled a 1.62 60' with decent track prep, and 1.76 with shitty track prep...all with open diff and 07 31 spline axles. The NT05's only come in 315 for a 20" wheel.
Thanks Kyle... Confirming that those are the 09 R/T 31 spline axles? Your post says 07... About how much HP are you at the wheels? Also, are you using the NT555r's as street tires as well?
OOops...yea 09 R/T axles...I should be kissing 500 whp, or their about. One day, i'll dyno for a number....I know what I run ET and MPH wise(11.90 at 115 with 1.7 60') , and it compares to what others run in that area...So 500ish. And yes, street/strip...it's not my daily, but i'll tell you this. I had a brand new set of street tires on for the first 2000 miles with this new motor, and I needed new rears. They would spin alot, any turn and part throttle i would get ESP light flash. With the DR's on the street it has greatly reduced, so I feel like the DR's should outlast the street tires by a long shot because i hardly ever lose traction. I love em...i have the 305's on stock SRT wheel.
That sounds great! This is not my daily driver either. So it is a considerable difference compared to the stock Goodyear Eagle RSA on the street and at the track?
like kyle said, if the car is not a dd, then running a d/r probably not a bad idea, but if you do, all of the other things listed will be needed as well, so as to not break anything!!
Over considerable...night and day difference, street or strip. And yes, the 09 axles have been tested up to 540rwhp with DR's on the track and lived. I would like to know their limits though.
