I recently and sadly departed with my heavily modded Ram SRT-10 recently and picked up a 2010 SRT-8 GC. I am looking for ballpark HP gains from: Pedator tune - off the shelf tune on stock, near stock. Catback - Headers - Mids/HF Cats - I will eventually go cam, heads, intake, TB, full exhaust - Target 12.00 1/4 mile. In addition, I just moved back to the SF Bay area...so unfortunatly I dont have the garage setup I used to, so the engine mods will need a local tuner/ 4w dyno...Any suggestions?
I'de save the money on the headers, stock shorties are pretty damn good. Bang for the buck, headers don't make the cut. With your first list, you should be in the 400rwhp area. Congrats on the purchase...Enjoy the ride! Your full list should hit your target, or damn near it.
Sorry for your loss on the 10, but you did pick up a sleeping monster in the AWD GC. You can call Bob from SVS, he is up in Sacto, or there is a tuner in the N. Bay (I think) that may have an AWD Dyno? Get with ChargerGirl (Tamara), she is in Dublin and can help you out... Mark (07norcalsrt8) also has a tuner in the Bay Area. Welcome to the "C"...
Thanks for the info, wow that was quick Sounds like the same story as the SRT-10's. I got 20rwhp and 30ft lbs from mids/HF Cats but only 12rwhp and 10ft lbs from the headers...So yea, bang from the buck wasnt that great. Will have to sync up with those local members.... If I can get it in the ball park of my past truck, sound and performance wise, Ill be happy. (11.6 on spray, 12.3 on motor) ...I am not going to spray the GC but 11.9/12.0 seems like a decent target that wont require too much in regards to driveline upgrade. I assume the stock trans can handle a 12.0 ride ???? (Perhaps tq converter upgrade)...... Used to hit the road course quite a bit in the truck but dont plan to go that route with the GC. Was always fun running over vettes and porsches:rofl: I'll work on some pics....its Black metallic.
You should take the jeep out on the road course, it has to handle better than the Ram. Here is a little vid of me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DiPM5hHmXnA
Not to shabby Actually the truck did pretty good with its 55/45 weighting, performance springs (1"/2" drop) & QA1 adjustable shocks. It was still a handful but could hold its own...used to run it at VIR (Virginia Intl Raceway) on their full course. I have heard these GC's show up pretty good as well...Its not that I couldnt its just each weekend of road courses are pretty hard on the vehicle. When I could take it home and fix it myself, it wasnt that big a deal on the Ram....I dont have the same setup out here in CA so, reluctant to abuse the vehicle more than I can afford to take it to a garage and have it fixed. Only 20rwhp gains from those mods? Looks like cam, heads, intake are the biggest bang for the buck. I will ignore the 'gained 20rwhp from a predator tune" threads then.
That's not too shabby considering it was on a Mustang Dyno. Mustang Dyno's are considerably lower than the DynoJet Dyno's...
Ahh, thought that was stock vs Headers, mids, catback, tune, CAI, TB = 20awhp gain....was thinking...hmm, not worth it. 20rwhp on cai is awesome.
Gotcha....think I am going to miss the tuning aspect from my truck. I used to tune it myself after each mod via VEC3 on my laptop on the dyno. Obtaining tuning sw and finding an awd dyno is going to be a pain.
And pretty expensive. With The predator and a laptop, you can pretty much tune in your AFR and timing, you just can't reduce KS sensitivity, or torq management, but a good email CMR tune from Johan at diablo, and a one shot dyno tune, you're good to go. If you add mods later, you can adjust AFR/timing yourself.
Is Borla the best catback system out there? Any recomendations for mids/HF cats? My truck used to shake the house, so not worried about loud....priorities are HP gains, quality parts and no drone....
Exhaust is subjective, but for your requirements...HHP/Kooks catless mids, to Corsa Extreme cat back. You'll have volume, depth and power, with near zero drone. EDIT: Opps, forgot we were talking GCSRT8...no idea if what i posted is correct for Jeeps.
While you can't adjust your torque management with the predator, the canned tunes do have it modified. Especially in 1st? where, stock, it's significantly limited (along with the throttle?) -- to reduce load on the transfer case.
Good to know Quick....thanks. Any decent local shops your recommend for dyno/tuning..etc? Any local clubs for GTG's ?
