I am new to the late model performance and need the best info I can get. I just bought a 2009 Charger SRT8 with 4000 miles on it. I have had alot of fun with the car and have held my own over the last three months on the streets. Monday afterwork I had a fellow worker in my car going down the interstate explaining how the SRT8 Charger,300, Magnum and Jeeps all run about the same stock. My co worker say how about that Blue Charger coming up next to us it doesn't look like yours it has decals on it "Super Bee". I tell him the car is the same power wise and that I'll show you what I mean. So I pace the other Charger and we slow down. All of a sudden the about 45 mph we hit it off. The Super Bee jumped out instantly the spinning the tires. I had to let out the car he was 4-5 cars on me within seconds. Now for the big question how much power does this take to walk away from another SRT8 like this? Granted I am stock but want to beable to have more power. Thanks for any info you can give.
It depends on what the other car had done. A good place to start is an aftermarket cat-back, high flow cats, cold air intake (AFE or LMI are the best in my opinion and testing), and a Diablosport Predator/Trinity. Those should take you from about 360 up to 400 HP at the wheels. For more power than that, you're looking at nitrous, heads/cam, a blower, or a stroker motor.
Their is always someone faster...Don't get caught up int it, or you'll bankrupt yourself. You're only as fast as your wallet.
Thanks for everyones feedback. Are there any members here from the VA area that may know what this Super Bee has done to it? I'd like to have my car run this well. To turn the tires @ 45 mph is awesome!!
Do a head/cam/intake/exhaust/tune package and you'll be set. Should add about 100 rwhp to your stock bottom end and around 4-5 grand plus install, depending on supplier. Or a Zex nitrous package from BMC, for up to 150 rwhp for about 1 grand plus install.
I know there is one in the VA area running either a Paxton or a ProCharger Supercharger. Could have been that one?
That's my buddy Mike. ProCharger with about 8psi. Stall converter, 3.73's and just over 550rwhp. When it hits the track I predict 10's easy. Oh, and it's getting heads/cam in about 2 weeks.
