From a post on my club site from a guy who'd know. http://www.cencallx.com/forums/fastlane/2142-chp-going-undercover-chargers.html?nojs=1#links Might explain why people drive all guilty-like when I roll up on the freeway.
Campbell has at least 1 black & white Charger R/T they use for traffic enforcement and show around the schools.
Link works now....the Charger is becoming the car of choice for most law enforcement agencies here....The TN hwy patrol has a black unmarked charger working the area where I-26 and I-81 meet...it is black with blacked out windows and even has a civilian tag........you would pass it w/o a second thought till all the hidden blue lights came on...
Wyoming HP is phasing Chargers in exclusively. They also use seized vehicles...there is a tan suburban in this area used for speed enforcement and it cracks me up watching that thing turn across the median...looks like a small boat caught in huge waves.
A lot of HP are using chargers. I know Utah HP uses chargers in the not-so-populated areas on I-15 and I-70. They still have some crown vic's, but mostly in urban areas. A lot of city PD's in Utah also have the charger. They gave me a thumbs up last time I took my SRT back home!
Almost all the HP cars I see around here are Chargers...I have seen a couple Maggies also. Mostly they still have the lights visible, although I have recently seen a Charger or two that would pass for civy rides, unless you looks real REAL close.
i saw the article and checked with my chp trainer yesterday, its a bogus story. chp is still white for big rig enforcement and black and white for regular patrol. speaking of which, tam, there are two new chargers in dublin/pleasanton now chp are using regularly, both are black with white doors. be careful out there!
Yeah, I've seen them. I always play it cool around town because Dublin is like LEO Grand Central. Every time I go out for an errand I see at least two-three different agencies/departments/municipalities represented. There's Federal, CHP, Alameda County, Dublin, and Pleasanton. I've gotten to where its like ESP for cops. If I get the least little urge to get on the gas or have fun, I KNOW there's one right around the corner or just up the street, so I just don't bother.
