Hi all. Been meaning to jump on here for about a year now. Well now I have a reason. Folks I'm on a fact finding mission. Recently my 09 Super Bee suffered a fractured exhaust valve spring on cyl #4. Major damage. Needs a complete long block. Car only has 6650 miles on it. Now what I'm curious about, are there other members whom have experienced a similar problem with their vehicle under warranty still? What was the reported damage, also the final outcome.
I can't say for everyone, but I haven't heard of any major failures on a stock motor. I think this might be a one-off fluke. Hope warranty covers it.
I believe there were a couple of members a few years back with something similar? I also believe that they were all covered under warranty? Hell, we just had my wife's (mrssrt10) motor replaced under warranty (SRT10 Truck) due to heavy oil consumption. Let the system work for you and DO NOT let the dealer try and sway you into paying for anything.... Sorry you had to go through this.
No. Only way it matters warranty wise is if you made some modification that was involved in causing the failure.
I hope you're right Quick. Heavy, guessing you've seen this? http://www.challengertalk.com/forums/f5/6-1l-charger-drops-valve-cyl-4-a-33572/
Correct, fully covered under warranty. Just had to freak out a couple of times. When they quoted 20 hours book time to R&R the process and final count was 52 hours and 5 road tests later. Anyways she back in my posession where she belongs.......
KICK ASS. Glad it all worked out for you. I just don't understand why Dealerships make the customers go into freak out mode when things are "Clearly" a warranty issue? When my wife's SRT10 was eating oil, my dealership gave us no push back on replacing the motor. Was a very easy process for us.
Yes, but he's north of the border. Didn't know if they got anything like the Magnuson-Moss Act up there or not. So if you ran into an unethical dealer don't know if there's anything to fight the "Sorry, you modded it and voided your entire warranty" scam.
Oh by the way, just as they were about to reassemble the engine, I thought I would maybe bounce the idea of mopar cam...suckie as it may of been...but hey it would be dealer installed so good to go for warranty. NOT NOT NOT !!!! SM advises me, if you go with another cam, other tnan OEM. Say goodbye to your warranty for any internal issues that may arise. Ain't that a bitch, they'll sell you a cam from the mopar supercenter, dealer installed...all for not !!! I opted out, until is off warranty.
