So I ordered some new speakers for my beater truck from Crutchfield today. They didn't list any on their parts finder that fit the dash locations. I checked out a few truck forums and found the mounting depth was 2" max. I then found a set with a 1 7/8" depth. I had to call in my order since the door speakers were on sale. The sales rep was very nice. When we got to the dash speakers, he was a little hesitant to sell me the ones I picked because they were listed as not fitting my vehicle. I told him I had 2" of depth to work with and the speakers I picked are 1 7/8" deep. The he says, "It will be a tight fit. Are you comfortable with doing some modification if needed?" HAHAHAHAHAH...yeah, I'm "comfortable" with that.
Yeah Crutchfield does have great service... they hate call backs... I was lucky enough a few years back to see there computer system with everything that they have on car info... it was just awesome... never seen anything like it... plus they put there vendor trainers through 2 tough days of training their staff... trust me... but it did make me a better trainer also...
you know how to work on a car adam???? lol crutchfield does have some pretty decent stuff. i have used them in past projects!!
I use Crutchfield whenever I don't want to make a project out of something. Sounds silly huh, but they send all the wiring connectors and the brackets. Once the connectors are soldered on, it pretty much plug and play replacement.
Ya, they are pretty good to deal with and while they don't usually sell the newest versions of the "latest and greatest" gadgets, they do have a good price for the most part. Love the plug and play features they have.
wow, am i the only crutchfield hater? they sell almost all their stuff at 200% markup. how could i buy from them and not my local stereo shop?
Are you nuts??? They do not sell stuff at 200% markup... Where are you getting these facts from??? They sell at MSRP or MAP... If there is a close out model from a company... they make a deal with the manufacture and sell it at a discount... plus give you free shipping and wiring harnesses for the 12 volt side and sometimes a free radio kit....
not quite 200% but pretty ridiculous none the less. i thought you would know this, dont you install car stereos? ebay (amazon is also in the ballpark): $1040.00 http://cgi.ebay.com/KENWOOD-EXCELON...emQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item414d4bf2dd vs crutchfield price: $1700.00 http://signature.crutchfield.com/s_113DNX9140/Kenwood-Excelon-DNX9140.html?tp=20212
ok so the MSRP on the unit is $2000.00 http://www.kenwoodusa.com/NewsArchive/2009/c1096148-2561-4ee1-a659-6eff90ebad71 and they are selling it for $1700.00 yeah that is a HUGE MARK UP!!! eBay stores are not true dealers... Also most manufactures will not give you a warranty on product that is sold to you from a NON DEALER... so now you would have a 1040.00 brick... So good luck with that...
msrp is a complete joke on ANYTHING, actually using that as a counterpoint is pretty thin. for 1040 vs 1700 ill take my chances with a 2 year limited warranty.
dude what is your beef with this thread? if you don't like the company then state your opinion and move on. if you want to buy your stuff off ebay that's cool.
Seriously? Steve's making a point. The forums are not his life line! Steve's not dissing Albert or Adam....just discussing his experience from his point of veiw.
seems like ralph and albert want srtc to be another lxforums...somebody posts a topic, everyone agrees, then promptly bend over to lick each others butt holes.
not at all. i just don't see the op asking for an opinion. if you had a bad dealing with them then post about it. no need to talk shit about a company because you can get a better deal somewhere else.
youre right, he posted the topic for it to be read and not replied to thus no one give their opinion good or bad....ralph you on drugs tonight man?
Do you even know me??? Cause many people on here and over there can tell you that I am not a YES MAN!!! I will tell you to fuck off so easy... if I don't agree with something... maybe you should ask around about my fucking attitude!!! As for you... it seems to me that you like to talk shit about stuff that has nothing to do about the main subject... I trained Crutchfield in the past about car audio for the company that I worked for and they do not like to piss off their vendors about cost... if they had there way about it... they would have the lowest price around because they can buy in bulk ... unlike those eBay so-called stores
not at all. i guess my point was, have you had a poor experience with this company? if so then great and please tell me about it so i could think twice before doing any business with them. if i wanted to read stupid bull shit all day that has no explanation of the facts then i would just take bud off my ignore list.
cmon albert, youre a hell of a yes man and an appeaser. its ok, youre prob very good at the work you do in retail possibly? now, everything that i have stated in this thread was on point. something off topic would be me pointing out the fact you have a mustang spoiler on your very nice looking grey charger. thats great that they have a great relationship with vendors, that means little to nothing to the average consumer. we require the best price on the best product. the end.
