Well, let me put it in this way, if I have the opportunity during my visit to Florida later this year, I would go a lengthy way just to see it... Its awsome!!! Fredrikopcorn:
Once I'm up and running I'd love to meet as many forum members as possible. As I'm retired I have a lot of cruse time available. I'm in the middle of building a new home so that does take some time - but my life schedule is more open now than any time in my life and I LOVE IT!!!! I can't wait to get some time behind the wheel on the track and get comfortable what the car will do! For now I plan to run a pump gas set-up so I can drive street and strip. After maxing that out and adding some nitrous will look at higher boost and race gas option. I really hope to show what the whipple 2.9L supercharger can do on our hemi's! Seeing Adams results with the new 3.6L KB is very, very impressive!!!!
Spent some time today at Mr. Norms Garage. I really enjoy every visit there. Today I met Tim for the first time and he took me for a ride in a beautiful Legends car done in yellow and black. I was amazed just how streetable 900 hp can be. He drove it just like any beautifully done street car when he wanted, yet the beast was there at his demand. After reading so many "lightswitch" boosted cars I was extremely surprised just how drivable their car was. The two personalities this car has were both fantastic!!! Mr. norms has definitely built something they can be proud of. And Tim's black monster is getting prepped for Bradenton. They are making serious improvements here and seem confident in making passes in the eight's. Having seen the changes in progress I have no doubt this is going to be a big hit a Bradenton. My car has progressed well. The engine is in and looking good. We still have a clearance issue with the driveshaft and Corsa, but that will be fixed shortly. If we are very, very lucky I just might have a street tune ready to go in time to drive to Bradendon. That is clearly uncertain right now though we certainly are much closer to my car getting back on the street. Todd and the rest of the crew there have really done their jobs!!!! Today was a really good day and I have to thank everyone at Mr. Norms Garage for the great experience I had there today!!!
Sounds like things are rolling right along, Jim. Would be a real treat to at least Drive the monster to Bradenton.
Looks like I'll get that treat Ron!!! Mr. Norms is working on my car to get ready for a ride to Bradenton on next tuesday. Here is current state of the car. But these guys at Mr. Norms are really something. In spite of all the corrections needed, missing parts, and never installed items they intend to get my car running by tuesday so I can go to Bradenton to meet some of those I've only talked to on the forums. My car should be started today or tomorrow. It will go back into the shop after Bradendon to really be finished. Right now looking for a simple street tune and some break-in miles. Interestingly based on their experience I will not be using synthetic oil in this car but regular Castrol 10W 40 instead. I am having so much fun working with Mr. Norms. And for those who remember the gauges discussion we are making great changes there too!!!. Here are some pics as of 7:00 AM today. And think I'll be driving on tuesday. Pretty amazing group at Mr. Norms. I promise to take lots of video of all the cars next week at Bradenton. Tim will be there in his black monster and should be dam* impressive going down the track from what I have seen of that beast!!!
Great news Jim and my hats off to the guys at Mr. Norms. After assembling 4 cars that came torn apart, in boxes with misc costly mistakes. It can be a royal PITA to make everything right again. I don't envy them.
Todd and his crew love a challenge. They have 3 cars torn apart all planning to be ready for Bradenton tuesday. They know their jobs!!!! One car still has the engine in Atlanta!!! The Mr. Norms operation is GREAT!!! In spite of the expected PITA I brought to them, they love what they do and it definitely shows. I feel so lucky!!!
It is just about 10 PM tonight and I want to say a big THANK YOU to the whole crew at Mr. Norms. They worked this late so I could drive my car to Bradenton tomorrow morning. I look forward to the people I'm going to meet tomorrow and to driving my new car for the first time in 14 months!! I cannot say enough good about everyone at Mr. Norms. I am sooooo happy tonight. Thanks to Moke, Todd, Tim, and everyone else there. My car sounded good on the phone. Tomorrow can't come fast enough.
Wooooooooooooooooooooooooo HOooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Congrats, Jim. Let me be the first to say, "WHERE is the video?" haha Enjoy the trip, buddy.
Its been a long time coming.... Big congrats and I really hope you have a superday, wish I was there! Fredrik:grin:
How'd you sleep last night? Reminiscent of Christmas as a child??? Big congrats Jim, sorry i couldn't make the trip to meet you and others...please take lots of pics and vid for us working stiffs.
I actually slept well after hearing my car over Mike's cell phone. That made my day  I know I promised video and pics from Bradenton yesterday but had a problem. We started our caravan from Mr. Norms around noon and I was sky high finally sitting in my car with a running engine. Tim had put in a basic tune as we have to replace the PCM on monday. That's a story in itself. I was excited to fire her up. She sounded sweet even running no boost yet. Took it and filled up with gas and got my first compliment. The clutch with the 900 series material grabbed hard (as you want a race car to) so you need some revs before feeding out the clutch. The T6060 and hurst shifter were what I had hoped. So drove about 20-25 miles keeping under 3000 RPM's and watching the gauges for any issues. Then without any warning the car went into limp mode and I couldn't rev over 2000 RPM. The clutch became difficult to disengage. So I turned around and carefully nursed the car back to Mr. Norms. I was relived to get her back to the garage safely and William was there to let me into the garage where I parked her. By the time I finally got to Bradenton I had time to watch the INDY cylinder heads car make the final pass of the day. Some had left already and others were packing up. So.... I have no video, pictures, and most disappointing meets & greets with all those I so looked forward to finally meeting in person. Yet those first 20 minutes saved my day!!! I apologize for no video or pictures but it's what it is. The Mr. Norms crew worked burning the midnight oil for three days and at the last minute ( loading the trailer ) Tim's car's fuel pump broke. But I can tell you the three pulls he did on the dyno were awesome. I can't say thank you enough to the crew at Mr. Norms ( great guys) and all the hard work to get my car running. We knew we had more to finish things so I really wasn't down after my car went into limp mode. Those 20 minutes removed a lot of my anxiety. Todd is taking a well earned week off so I'll report in a few weeks after they do some more on my car. I think everyone will like the new gauge arrangement better that before. I know I do. And we are not far from making boost and doing the dyno tune to see what I have. I am impressed by the whipple and can't wait for boost, even though I can feel the unleashed power now. Sorry I didn't meet all those I had hoped to or post the video and pics I promised. That will be coming soon to a forum near you!!!
No sweat Jim, just happy to see significant progress. Glad you got to at least drive her for a bit. Those growing pains will become less and less...hang in there buddy!
