I test drove a Caliber SRT4 today! My experience.

Hi. I live in NH. I had to drive an hour away just to test drive one of these! It was a silver one which I'm not too fond of but it was the only one, that i know of, within an hour of my house. Long story short the test drive went well, kinda. The salesman says that this is the only one around for the next couple months...which is BS. So i notice its on empty and say "lets go get some gas." We pull up to the pump and he proceeds to put in 87oct. as i tell him "Hey, I'm pretty sure all SRT models usually use Premium fuel don't they?" Puzzled,he just looked at me and said " Oh i didn't realize that." As we drive I notice that i actually am digging the car over all. Nice ride, a little body roll but not too bad, comfortable, a little pep to it. After driving a short distance in the city I tell him I wanna get on the highway. As we do i tell him that I'm going to check the acceleration out. Let me tell you that this car did NOT like that cheap ass gas. It moved out but you could hear the car ping for a sec then the power went a little soft due to the crap gas, it went ok though. As we are driving he's talking about how he sells these SRT's for MORE than the sticker price and that he has sold the SRT Chargers for 10k MORE than the sticker price! Oh boy, here we go. We get back to the dealer and the window sticker CLEARLY says 25k. As we sit down to talk he says that because this one is the only one around that its an additional $3,000!!! Yup $28,500. And this wasn't even loaded. No Nav and no upgraded stereo etc. I tell him that his finance manger is NUTS and that there are MANY on there way up here. He says let me go talk to my manager, comes back and says that they will not move on the price. I told him that if they didn't START at the sticker price that i would walk. Again he comes back and says thats the best they can do....which was NOTHING. So i said "Thanks have a nice day and walked out." What a Dick!
As I'm leaving in my GCSRT8 i can see the manger mouthing and gesturing, all pissed i might add, that this is the only one around.
Well before i was out of the parking lot i made a call to another dealer who said that there was one that should be here any day and that it would be sold for the sticker price, NOT 3,000 MORE!
Overall i liked the car and want to buy one...just not from them.

 

Be patient grasshopper, you'll definitely find someone that will work with you.

I love my caliber srt-4 and got a great deal on it!

 

Ok, first off, the crappy gas made it sluggish like that and not the color....silver is the quickest and slickest. lol hehehe. 2nd. That dealer is a dolt...acting like the Caliber has some sort of nostalgic following. Did you do this during the test drive?



Go back and do this at that dealer and then tell them you're buying the exact model at Dealer B for 3G's less. hehehehe

I would wait a bit you should be able to get a CSRT4 for invoice or less.

Zoo, with that dealers attitude and pricing i wanted to make them a PATIENT at the local ER. :boxing:But i am learning this patients thing.

Bud, The dealership was Colonial Dodge in Hudson, MA.
I couldn't find any closer to me than that. I tried everywhere i know of.

I do know of one dealer that is getting one but I'd have to kill you if i told you who it was because its hopefully going to be mine.:guns:

$22k is what they are worth loaded IMO. I tried the local dealer out here. They said they won't be getting them for a couple of months.

haha I would go to another dealer also. I bought my SRT-4 for $3500 under invoice because they didn't think they could sell it after marking it up to $27500 either and let it sit for 6 months. well worth the wait for me.

Guess who called me back? Yup, the same lame ass dealer that i drove an hour, one way, to with the kids( my 5yr old and 20 month old).
My wife took the call and couldn't even understand 1/2 of what the guy was saying due to the guys accent being so thick. I think he was Indian or something.
She gives him a piece of her mind telling him what an ass they've made themselves look like and he STILL says to call him back.
Ummm...Hold your breath I'll be right there.
Needless to say, there are a few more making their way up here so I will have to wait for now. Cool colors too. Orange and Red. I like black also.

 

You guys on the coasts are the only ones getting them? I haven't seen any around here yet.

 

one of my neighbors has one and it isn't as bad as I thought it would be.

 

I went to the stealership a long long time ago and they marked the price up on me......well 5 months went by and the 2005 model became outdated and in feb o6, I bought my srt-4 for 18,250 out the door.
