On my Super Bee, all I did was swap out the suitcase for a set of flowmaster mufflers and installed Blastin Bobs resonator delete pipes in back.

I have not dynoed the Bee, but from the seat of my pants feeling, the Bee did not lose 50 hp, maybe 5 hp was lost.

    Well...we have a resolution hahahaha...

Mufflers work better when they aren't installed backwards

Glad that you found out what was wrong buddy! :friends:

    Old thread...good info.

Anywhoo....I have heard both ways about our 'X-pipe', so which is it?? Is it in fact a true X or is it fake, like how it is explained earlier in this thread?

It's both, some cars are true xpipe and some aren't.

Someone said the earlier builds are true and later builds are fakes but I don't think this was borne out.

Ultimately I think we have no idea at all which cars have the true xpipe.

No, we do know which cars have it and which don't. ...but I can't remember.
The answer is in one of the early SRT Engineer Chats. I can't remember if it was intentional like they designed it one way and then changed it or if it was unintentional like one manufacturer/supplier made it one way and another didn't. Haha, I do know that I have a true X pipe, I just can't remember why (Magnum, build date 1/25/06).

So, would it be worth it to get it modified into a true X-pipe (if I do happen to have a fake one)??

Hey Quick... my memory is worse than yours, I even forgot it was in a chat session. A quick Google brought this up:

    Q:
This may have been addressed before but it has been noticed that some factory x-pipes are closed off and only appear to cross gases from each pipe. Was this intentional? If so, why?

    A:
The X-pipe closed vs. open was actually done for sound quality. We wanted a more aggressive exhaust note on the Charger vs. the 300C so the Chargers got the closed x-pipe.

    EDIT:
Maybe this was their original intent but execution sucked I guess; how do they now explain the Chargers that DO have a true crossover?

Eh, really doesn't matter I guess, I mean there hasn't been repeated issues of any cars with lower than normal power outputs.

From MBRP back in 2008 (I think this was with their exhausts and x pipes though)

I think it's actually cool that these cars aren't affected by xpipe or no xpipe... but I wonder why. Haven't crossovers been shown to improve scavenging, I mean in general?

If we can try different crossovers, with impunity regarding power, I'm tempted to see what an h-pipe will do to the exhaust note.
