I just got back from the track. Eventful day. I'll post pictures and videos later.

Before I hit the track I removed my catback and put on some header collector extensions. Man is the car loud with open headers!!

I drive 1.5 hours to Sac in my bright red, obnoxiously loud, Charger on front skinnies and slicks (Hoosier DRs). As I keep my eye out for CHP, sheriff's deputies and local police I feel like the Tirpitz taking a pleasure cruise in the North Atlantic in 1944 (let's see who gets that reference!) I see a sheriff's patrol car and a city patrol car but neither is interested in me - Whew!

So I get to the track and the pretty lady at the front gate (who likes my car) asks me if I did something different. She told me the car was vibrating the whole ticket stand.

I meet up with Hector (07inferno) in the pits. He's got a inferno red 300 SRT8 with heads/cam and nitrous.

Weather is OK but a little foggy. A big storm front is coming.

Other interesting cars out there include:

    1) an '08 600 HP Viper from Utah (owner tells me he has fastest stock Viper west of Mississipi that runs 11.1@129 with stock tires.

    2) A '10 Camaro SS that ran mid 14s all day

    3) A red Magnum RT with catback that kept beating the Camaro SS

    4) A blue '06 GTO running high 10s.

First run out - [email protected] with 1.533 60' Nice start, today is looking good

I run a few more times but can't get traction!! I'm doing 3rd gear burnouts but that ain't doing it like last Saturday.

I decide to cool the car off for a while and walk over to the stands. I see Hector has pulled to the side of the right hand lane near the 1/8th mile mark. I figure he hit limp mode and is restarting his car.

I was wrong. Hector gets out and I can tell something is really wrong. I jump over the fence and listen to weird metallic noise as Hector starts the car and puts it in gear. Engine sounds OK but something is wrong. Hector just got the BB valve body so I wondered if something went wrong with the install.

They tow Hector's car out of the right lane and back to the pits. Hector starts the car again and when he puts it in gear the rear end starts making noises. Neither rear halfshaft is obviously broken and the driveshaft looks OK.

Hector tells me he hit the nitrous somewhere after his launch and heard a snap. Our guess it that one of his halfshafts broke off in his diff. Luckily AAA came to the rescue and Hector was off to Dito's in South San Francisco. BTW, if you drag race you need to get AAA, man does it come in handy!

So I go back to racing. After a half-hour cool down I head out and get a new PB:

    60' ... 1.522
    330' ... 4.551
    1/8 ... 7.108
    MPH ... broken
    660' ... 9.298
    ET ... 11.155
    MPH ... 121.258

Serpentine belt on, race weight (with me) about 3900 lbs, DA about -447

Funny thing was right before that run the guy who works the lights tells me to roll down my window. He has a sincere look on his face and says, "I think it's time for you to get a rollbar." This is funny because last weekend he was riding down the quarter mile on a quad at 100 MPH without a helmet

Anyways the LX stock block NA record is 11.150 ...

Ahem, anyways I ran about 15 runs total but couldn't reduce my ET another 5/1000ths of a second

Lots of company in the stock block NA 11.15 bracket Slideways, Peter Parker and I need to all meet up somewhere and race.

Other PB today for me was 98.7 MPH in the 1/8th (when I spun pretty bad off the line) The 1/8th MPH sensors worked half the time.

Anyways I'm thankful to be home in one piece. I'm impressed the car can take this much abuse. I check my driveshaft everytime I'm under the car and it looks to be holding up well. The tranny and Getrag seem to be holding up pretty good too.

Does the guy from Utah know that all GenIV Viper are 600hp from the factory or was it his reaction time that made him the fastest?

He's the fastest I guess because he can actually launch one on street tires. I've seen a few Vipers at the track on street tires and usually they do really bad. Spin the tires badly = slow

    Kick ass Jeff.

I would say that your friend Hector snapped a 1/2 shaft.. Hopefully.

Fantastic Jeff. I'm going to be staying in Folsom the 1st week in Feb while working in Placerville. I usually try to get out the Sac Raceway.

Sounds like a halfshaft to me also. I broke 2.
