Well, i guess all the chatting in Chases thread about his car overheating made mine want to do the same thing....... driving the car the past couple of days and noticed the temps wildly fluctuating..... mind you its been relatively cold lately for florida (40 - 50) car warms up, then once it hits 181 (180 t-stat) the t-stat opens, the car heats up to maybe 185, then drops back down..... then suddenly i watch the temps quickly climb to 230!!!! then just as fast they dive back down to 181 and the t-stat closing..... then back up again.... this went on for my entire drive to work and back this morning!!! well, i picked up a stant 14248 hd 180 t-stat from the locat parts store and swap it out.... no issues now!!!!! so chase, change your t-stat.....stat!!! lol
lol nice. I need to write that part number down. haha I don't think I will be putting my 170 back in once I get emissions figured out.
LMFAO. Too funny. Does that one come with a gasket as well Chris?? And what parts store did you get it at?? I may follow your lead on this.........
guess i dont have to worry about overheating when its 11 out (like it is right now) LOL so did you determine 100% that it was in fact the T Stat?
i picked it up at my local parts store Advanced Auto. i think i might have written down the wrong number.... i will let you know tonight when i get home! car ran perfect!! 179 - 181 the entire drive to work this morning!! woo-hoo!!
yes steve..... although looking at our post times... you would not have seen my last comments!! lol yep, everything works like a champ now!!!
I went to either autozone or advance, i do believe it was autozone in ST CLOUD, MINNESOTA and bought (2) "4127" 170* thermostats and (2) "4128" 180* thermostats. I think the boxes say CST on them. I like to have spares. Here is a question for you guys, the ZEREX G-05 coolant, Does anybody use it or know if you can. It's $10.99 a gallon at walmart here(pre-mixed) . I was gonna buy 5 but was not 100% sure if it's ok to use.Looks to be orange/red in color and says for chrysler vehicles. Just curious.
no gasket, but the oem one works over and over as long as you do not tear it. the stant 14248 that bought is 63mm dia. like the stock one, so no need to file or stretch the gasket to fit. i had the napa 191. got over 40K out it. i will say this, the napa one i had was not as consistent as i am seeing this new heavy duty stant. the stant also hold the temps between 179 - 181, whereas the napa unit was more in the range of 185. yeah adam, the cst is basically a reboxed motorad...hence the same numbers of 4127 and 4128
