Not sure Erik, I could look though inspection and see i guess. Going by my memory, I don't think I do Me and dudeiwin just had a PM..., he said a car he knew about similar issue, it was 5000 RPM's or more (or so he remembered). They never confirmed that was the reason, he swaped it with another motor all together. Mine is happening at any RPM WOT. If the car is spinnin the tires (no load), i get 1-2 deg...once it gets load, here comes the KR... I honestly think it's real knock...remember, i popped a head gasket with my KR desensitized completely on my old motor...and I heard it pinging its ass off.
I plan on doing a compression test in a few cylinders, check my static.. Erik, what cranking pressure do you see?
Here is some info for ya Erik posted on another forum.. I just redid my car and Carstens car since my gauge was apparently screwed. So here's what I found..... And the Hellfire # is from BBH....I think I remember this right,If not I'm sure BBH will correct me. 6.1 Stock 6.1 straight up....135psi,with 5* advance-175psi Comp268 .........215 psi(straight up) Hellfire..........190 psi(straight up) Littleboy, stock heads straight up....218psi...2* advanced-228psi Fatman Straight up w/ Indy head....160psi,2* advanced....180psi Tomahawk........210-215psi 5.7 Comp 260 with SRT8 head and .050 gasket.......215psi Sidewinder(stock head).......195psi(straight up) Littleboy Straight up with .030 milled Street head........200psi Fatman at 0*.........215psi If anyone else has any to add please post up.We should keep a record so we know what we have. 5.7 based 392 Standard Compstar rotator with 68cc heads(10.8:1) and HHP Stage 2 cam........203psi Heres some info From Hemi C Compression test procedure... bring engine to operating temp, pull one plug out from each cylinder, pull coil pack wire connectors, depress throttle while cranking: 1. Stock 5.7 head, Comp 260 (factory timing): 195 avg (low 192, high 200). conducted a head swap - 2. SRT 6.1 head (10.8 to 1 compression with .050 gasket), same Comp 260: 215 avg (205 low - 220 high).
Thanks for the info Scott...I added 5 gallons of 104 unleaded to a 1/4 tank of 93....going play around and see what happens.
Nothing....same fuckin shit. This is frustrating. Some thoughts. Should I have done a reset? Could this be cam related? Could I have a combo of KR...some real, and some false? Is this something I could tune out?
i know all signs point to false knock, but it also did with my last motor...first time going WOT when I turned the sensors off, i popped a head gasket on passenger side. I heard it pinging. I've been having this amount of KR since the beginning of life of the first motor, i always chalked it up to a shitty build, turned off sensors and it was actual knock. The two commons in the two motors are rotating assembly, manifold and injectors. this is all the differences new block new motor mounts new cam new sparkplugs new flex plate new rings new bearings new mid pipes new factory exhaust I fixed my lower bushings in the KW's yesterday. Car is very quiet running, i hear NOTHING rubbing at all... I think i'm going to have to wait and get it on the rollers, and do a complete 6500 RPM WOT plug read on every cylinder. I popped the gasket in the cylinder second closest to fire wall passenger side. I'm hoping is a couple of bad injectors, where i get a good AFR except in a few cylinders because the injectors are fucked up... Could I possible be getting knock from running to rich in a cylinder?
why not just take the injectors and have them flowed and cleaned.....that will rule them out and you were looking to get it done anyway.
Yea, guess that's the next step anyway, i would just like to KNOW that's the problem...I'll send them out though. I took my monitor out the car, it just pisses me off to see it.
Just a silly question.....have you logged it with the diablo? Just to make sure it's not the dash hawk.
Not sure how much, but i'm guessing there's probably some...using your catch can, checked and emptied it at 1000 miles and had about 2-3 oz in the can....i'de call that normal, right?
I'm stumped as well, thanks for the ideas and info though. Sure on the email for Johan, he's the guru...i'de love to get his take on it. Next up is to send the injectors out, then get on a dyno for a full 8 hour day of tuning.
