After much discussion with the wife, about the state of our upcoming new family in 2010, she is veto-ing the Caddy CTS-V. As we figure the baby will incur some pretty stout new costs, she's scared taking on another $75K in vehicle might be a bit much. And even though all my planning and budgetting says we can do it, she wants to play it safe. So it's a "no-go-on-the-v" for 2010. We've argued and discussed this topic a good bit over the past few weeks, and I've decided it's not worth the fight. I love my wife and unborn child more than I love the V!!! So in keeping my priorities right with her, here's the path we're going to take this next year with our vehicles: **Charger will stay in the stable FOR SURE!!! Some interior suede, and minor stereo work will be done. Along with a small list of suspension and cosmetic mods from Stack Performance. And $$$ permitting from my bonus, a Procharger install and tune from SHR. **Wife's G37 will be turned in at lease end, which is December 2010, unless we pay it off and turn it in early. Upon which time she will take over driving the Jeep SRT8 for her daily driver. She loves the ride height and getting in & out of the back seat with a kid. Not to mention she loves the torque!!! **To ready the wife's "acceptance" of the Jeep, here's her list of mods she wishes to have performed, lol (picky woman): Navigation with backup camera, stereo system upgrades including subwoofer and iPod control, suede headliner and seat upgrades, and a final DiabloSport tune. (and no I'm not making this shit up) **When wifey takes over the Jeep, I'll be buying one of three trucks. #1) 2010 Ford F-150 Harley Davidson (a 2007 is what I traded in for the Jeep, and I miss it, and the new ones are waaaaay cooler) #2) 2010 Dodge Ram 1500 Crew Cab Sport Shortbed in Mineral Gray #3) A used, but Cherry, SRT10 Quad Cab This isn't EXACTLY what I wanted to do, but I'm happy with the situation, as I'll be welcoming our first Child into the world at some point next year, and I'm sure that will overshadow ANY CAR I could ever want. And to be honest, I'm kinda looking forward to having a truck again! And with all the kickass features available on the new ones, I think it'll be kind of fun!! Not to mention I alredy have mods picked out for whichever truck I buy, lol (wheels, intake, & exhaust). And I figure in 2011, after things "settle" I'll trade the truck off for a CTS-V or whatever german-raping american 4door is badass at that point!!!!
wow....... i guess i need to pay attention more chase..... CONGRATS ON THE UPCOMING NEW ADDITION!!!!! did not know you were expecting!!! very nice!!! life will not be the same!! lol as for the V........ keep with your above plan........ you seem to have it well sorted out. i actually have been eyeing a used Harley Davidson F150 as well. btw - merry fucking christmas!!! lol
Yeah, I was on the verge of a CTS-V purchase myself. 0% financing for 72 mos. + GMS pricing for all made this VERY attractive. I was looking at a $65,000 car for $56,000 + the 0% financing. In the end I did the ProCharger for just over $7K. I know I don't have the handling of the V, but the straight line performance is much better. One day I'll get something else, but my SRT8 has just been too good to me. Plus two boys in college right now does tend to suck a few funds out of the ol' budget - figure $40,000 + per year.
Congrats on the pending arrival, :maddy:! As for HUGE costs of having a baby, the huge huge OMG costs are the delivery and the rest you don't notice as much because you give up a lot of what you'd be spending money on in the free time you no longer have (DVD's, trips, dinners out). Also, within a couple of years the baby will be eating the same food you do and potty-trained so the costs of special baby food, special laundry detergent and diapers will all go away. Madeline's not yet two and she's off the bottle (no more buying new nipples every three months and no more $30 cans of formula) and pretty much feeding herself and helping herself to our food off our plates. Looks like pretty soon we'll be doing away with the high chair and because I insist on making her walk when we go out, we don't use/haul the stroller around near as much. And as for the subject of giving up the new car for the new baby, I'm with ya. Were I a few years younger, I would've put off having Madeline so I could get the Challenger. But I'm not so I didn't. And thank goodness for that, considering my income evaporated and Marc lost his job and took another job with less pay. So yeah, it'll all work out. If nothing else, give it a few years and you can probably pick up the same V used for much cheaper.
Chase I feel your pain man!!!! Because of my child I had to back out on many things I worked hard for or always wanted. But I will tell you this... That child will be the most fun you every will have!
Cars come and go, children stay for life! Seem like you have things worked out quite well anyway, getting a child is as someone mentioned lifechanging... Congrats!:baby: Fredrik
LOL. She's not preggers yet dude. Will be sometime in the spring. We just like to "practice" a lot right now. Just planning for it is all. And Merry Christmas to you as well buddy. Thanks so much Tam. I was hoping you'd pipe in on this one. Thanks for the advice!! :baby: I hear ya Mains. I'm to a point where I've got my toys. Time for the real test of a man.......fatherhood. Thanks buddy. Preciate the sentiment!
oh...... my bad...... i thought your lovely bride had the bun cooking in the oven now....lol good luck with making "practice" pay off!!! nothing like the birth of a child to bring a new perspective to ones life....
Harly, SRT-10, 2010 Ram.... thats what i would suggest... depends on what your looking for out of a truck...but knowing you big papa....thats the route i'd take.... way to make a baby big daddy!
Chase, it is a good idea to have the wife plan the money out! my wife handles my affairs and in the beginning she really watched the cash, we have two small business's and I always want to go buy stuff, not keeping payroll into account etc... here is a pic of what we picked up used last year for $75,000! if it wasn't for my wife watching the $, never would have happened. Just took 10 years! LOL! Good Luck! Don't have alot of pics, you get the idea! AMG///SL55 Nasty Benz Hard Top Covertible, 6,000 Miles.
Just being stupid That's the license plate on my wife's car "V" The thread title says "no" to V but we said "yes" lol...yup stupid
