Brad, Lurkr has a point about the breather being horizontal instead of vertical. You can pick up a brass 1/4" NPT 90 (male/female) and relocate the breather to the top. BUT, if it were wepping oil. you'd have residue all over the manifold and back of the motor. That gear housing holds about a pint, maybe. That modification is something that would be a good idea to do. This is also the same place you fill the gear case at.

But I disagree with Lurker about something. It's obivous it HAD oil in it at one point. But the level looks much lower then the site glass. If you cannot source the Neo oil, any good synthedic gear oil will work. Mobil one full synthedic 75W will be fine for right now.

Now for great news. I am able to get the seals in quanity. So today I ordered 20 to keep here. And Dookster, I'll send you the bearing number and we'll work something out. I know you can beat the crap out of the price I have already paid. So at this point, I can have everything here for rebuilding the blower with of course the exception of the hardware.

Ronster, these are not the same units. Inlue of me telling a huge story here. I don't know who you are dealing with at SMS. But have Sean fill you in sometime. The last thing you will ever see them do is have a Techco unit in the shop for repair work......hahahaha.

Brad, have you removed the belt yet and checked??.

Hey, here's a real crappy picture of the fitting.

It absolutely had oil in it. I said it looks like it is at the bottom in the picture, internet pictures can be misleading.

Every blower that didn't have the crack pipe leaked oil out of the breather. Some people noticed oil on the ground, some people didn't so maybe it went into the valley or burned up, they saw that the level was low.

The seals are stout, but firsts for everything. Problem is your not going to know if it is leking by looking into the rotors b/c there WILL be motor oil in there, every used PD blower that has been taking apart has had motor oil in it. One of the major issues with the old Saleen blower series 4 was since the blower sat above the intercooler all that oil would get blown down into the intercooler and get cover in oil and thus over time reduce cooling ability.

Fill it, clean the back, and watch the level if it goes down again and there are no external leaks visible, THAN take it apart. Again good luck, I hope the 90 degree fixes it.

Oh and Techco maybe helping out

Cam....Have not checked taken the belt off and checked the bearing yet. Did find someone in California yesterday that carried the NEO brand...Ordered it UPS next day air to Florida (probably costs more than the quart of oil) but I will have it for the holiday weekend. Will have more to report on Monday.....

    UPDATE

I removed the breather plug for the oil reservoir this morning and added exactly 1.5 ounces of the Neo synthetic oil. If the resevoir is about a pint (16 ounces) then it wasn't TOO low as compared to the way it looked with NO oil showing in the window. I also added the 90 degree elbow and reinstalled the breather plug on the top of the elbow.

This should let all the Techco people know that keeping the level up on the window is a good idea but not to be too alarmed as its not as if the resevoir is empty when the window shows no oil.

Cam, I did take the belt off and checked the bearing on the blower drive pulley. It feels good and smooth. I think what I am going to do over the next few days is drive the car carefully and keep my ear out for any more unusual noises and continue to check the window to see if the level goes down any. Other than that, short of pulley the blower head and sending it to you to check, which isn't very quick or painless there isnt much left to do until I either hear more issues or notice oil loss........Agree?

Glad to hear you're staying lubed. The oil can still weep out of the 90 a little, but it is the fix we've used with success as a change from the horizontal breather, which did little to retain the oil. Stuff sure does stink.
I use a telescoping mirror and pen light to get a view of the window from time to time. So far holding steady. Hope your 90 breather and oil fill keep it running well.

BTW, where are you spraying your meth? the little plate on the passeger side of the neck of the intake. Folks were debating a while back about what that would do to rotors, etc. I have a controller, pump and reservoir tapped, just haven't nozzled it up yet. You should be able to get 600rwhp out of your set up, and you look like you're there. That's pretty strong. Not many of this set up out there, so intersted in how you do.
