Andy, have you considered having your tranny fluid level checked? If I were you I would let the dealership do it.
Man, that burns, literally. I have a new issue. Misfire monitor is shut-off till 3,000rpm. As soon as I hit 3,000rpm I get random misfire code like clock work. All plugs look fine. Any ideas?
When you say all plugs look fine...When? After a run and read, or after an idle and normal driving read. Are you monitoring LTFT?
Lol. Good thing for firextinguishers and Purple K. I had the standard P0300 code that was taken care of like your should have been... Seems like an email a while back from Bob @ SVS said that he had come up with some more info on that code and the results were included in my last tune. Give him a shout? I never did find out exactly what triggers that code.
Andy is not getting his at low RPM though and thats not good.At idle a p0300 is no big deal with a cam, above 3000 rpm even the biggest cams are running smooth enough not to have misfire issues. This needs to be looked at mechanically no matter what, just to verify things.
I agree. I was wondering what is the sequence for this code to show up was, beginning to end. Hopefully the problem is something past an actual mechanical problem...something like the PCM needs to see a certain signal or lack of a signal or it throws P0300, and maybe something is not hooked up correctly. What separates a Random Misfire from an individual cylinder misfire?
I just read some information on this and I am trying to find it. Apparently an engine has a distinctive harmonics pattern when it is operating. A misfire causes a disturbance in this harmonic pattern, and when it is random, then the ECU throws the P0300 code, and if it is a repetitive pattern the ECU can figure out which cylinder and throw the P030X code. The only sensors I know of where the ECU could read harmonics or a frequency shift is via the knock sensors. It could be the cam, it could be the torque converter both can cause a shift in the engine harmonics. or it could even be the increased airflow. I believe the example I was reading had something to do with the flex plate, or something related to the TC installation that was not right that was creating the distortion in the engine harmonics. I will try to find where I read this at. I am also interested in how well this plays out, in this case, there is a stroker engine, a big cam with a lot of overlap, low vacuum issues at idle, increased airflow from not only the cam but the huge throttle body, and before long even more airflow at idle and in the vacuum range once the turbo's start feeding the engine air instead of it sucking air in. It will be very interesting, and I hope Andy takes really good notes of all the cause and effects and the various things tried to correct all the issues.
It was determined by Hemi~C, Johan, LaFrad, and myself that the misfire is something that is going to occur with this combination until the tune has been revised enough to clear everything up. We will know this afternoon when I pick the car back up. Thanks for the input Tim, I will keep all of this in mind if the problem persists.
Good Luck! Sweet ride, sounds great! Pardon my ignorance..but,is that a 6.1L stroked to 426ci? or is it a Old school 426 with modern parts?(intake looks like a 6.1L) I'm thinking its a 6.1L stroked....but,the original post has me confused...
thanx.....Kool Ride! Has anyone tried putting a crate 426 or even better a 528 or 540 into a new charger/challenger/or magnum? http://i995.photobucket.com/albums/af73/MrBIGWORM/HEMIblocks.jpg?t=1262129828
andy - when you say "this combo".... meaning the current state without the turbos???? i am assuming the turbos are still not on or did i miss something???? what in the current combo is causing this issue...... or can you divulge that info??? lol oh yeah..... careful of that crazy swede..... what does he know about tuning anyway!!!! lol
Andy, please feel free to call me anytime (4195732122), it would be good to hear from you, its been awhile. And I was serious about the notes; it could be a very valuable reference if meticulous details were kept of what issues were showing up, what was tried, what the outcome was, etc. Only problem is that you have to be very methodical, and this can slow things down.
