Unfortunately the new cyrogenically treated axles were damaged in shipment. Replacement on the truck to BMC right now. Shooting for 12/15 now. I'm be down at BMC next week to see how things look and pick up my set of slicks and some other spare parts. We are very close!!!

Here is part of Builder Bills e-mail to me:

    Jim,
The one axle CV was crushed in shipping, I had them ship both back just in case.
Amazing, that I send them UPS in a 4" thick wall PVC plastic (yes sewer) tubing and they still get crushed.
I'm not sure how else to send them...they must have run over them with a Semi, a fork lift would not crush the thick wall 4" plastic shipping pipe.

However the repairs are made and we just need to install them on my car. I want to thank Bill for keeping our downtime to a minimum. He even replied to my questions at 10:00 PM on a weekend!!! I'd send anyone to Paramount Performance to work with Bill!:)

    Yep...CRUSHED!
One complete upper CV end, crushed by what appears to be a freight train.

Jim's axles were sent out, this time in super wall 6" x 6" cardboard boxes, wrapped with about 3" of bubble wrap.

A had a set sent to Canada that were crushed in the same way....4" heavy wall PVC, crushed.

Chrysler sends them out in flimsy, light weight 4" x 4" cardboard.

    Oh well....part of business.

Sure as Hell hope this is the final "bug" Jim has on his build.
    Bill

having recieved a set of your axles in the very same THICK pvc packaging..... i still can't believe how UPS can manage to destroy them!!! i laugh everyday when my ups guy backs up to the shipping bay and unloads 100 boxes to me......at least half look like they were run over by the truck before loading!!! :getlost:

glad to hear your build is almost done jim!! having seen this car with my own eyes, it is friggin sweet!!! best part is the cf intake!!! hehehehehehhe :D

UPS doesn't give a rats ass about your product inside the package...it's why they offer insurance...ALWAYS get the insurance. $100.00 insurance is standard and free, anything over that, you have to pay for it. We (here at work) had a server fry in Katrina...had one flown in with insurance...UPS destroyed it...cost them over 10k.

I'm running out of popcorn and the edge of my seat is worn. haha

I know how anxious you are Jim, and all I can say is that with all the time and effort you and BMC and the other sponsors/vendors put into this build, it will ALL be worth it in the end. :)

Hope you had a great Turkey day?

Thanks Ron I hope you and your family had a relaxing holiday as well. I am excited we are near the end of this loooong process. However, I still have plans for installing the new Yella Terra set-up in the spring that should be a new improvement along with an 8 rib pulley set-up. I sure hope I have my car for Christmas. My Ipod is loaded with some good driving music!!!

I feel so fortunate to have all these creative people using their skills to help contribute to my project. As someone who always strived for making a quality product in my working life it is such a pleasure to see so much fine work being done by so many. They say one should do what one loves and there is certainly a lot of love in those who supply parts, work on, and tune our cars. I was go:)ing to say toys but they really are so much more than that!!:)
