Ran a new PB last night that's nothing really to be proud of. I went instead of my old . I can't hit 107 to save my life. I was hoping for at least a 12.5 with the new dyno tune and TCM. I ran my fastest with the TCM in. I think I screwed myself though at the track. After I ran my 12.61 I tried swapping back to my stock TCM and reset the adaptives and I leaned it out 1.5% of WOT fuel. Didn't help. Fastest I went then was 12.65. I added the fuel back in and went 12.63. I should have left everything alone and keep trying. I had a feeling that tuning it and resetting the TCM Adaptives might take the truck a few passes to "relearn". Oh well, there's next week and then they're closed for winter...... which is only closed for December. They open back up in Jan. Air wasn't the best either. I was driving through patches of fog on the way there. I might try running this Sat. during T&T during the daytime and see if that helps with hopefully less Humidity. There were some pretty quick cars last night for sure. Definitely a bad night to forget my Camera. I met a guy named Alf from the site with his 08 GCSRT and he ran 3 13.6's@100. A GTR that ran a best 11.02, a Noble running mid 11's. I ran an M6 for my last run. He went 13.08@119!! He launched in 2nd and was running my ass down pretty fast. At the end on the track he flew by me like I was sitting still. His best of the night was a 12.7 with no traction. A guy in a bone stock Mercedes CL65 BiTurbo ran a best 11.7. That thing was pretty sweet. A Rail Dragster running a I-4 with a BIG ASS turbo on it ran a best 7.5@191. That was the coolest..... well, no there was a 80's VW Rabbit running a best 10.5! 507fwhp and weighed 1800lbs. Must be nice to be that lite.
Never did get a good answer on how long the TCM adaptives take to adjust. Naturally resetting them returns it to stock settings. Also don't know if they can adjust "both" ways from the stock/initial settings. It's possible that the initial settings are all the way to the "performance" end for the SRT8s and, if it adjusts from there, it's only towards the "comfort/economy" direction. Wish we knew more about that. I do believe that the fuel adaptives adjust within seconds. Very few seconds... like maybe 3?
Have you done any weight reductions at all? How much fuel in the tank? Spare?...Shouldn't take much to get you there. Also, try launching at a different RPM.
I think you're right about the fuel adapt. As far as the TCM adapt. go..... DynoSteve once told me to go BEAT on it after resetting them. Then I've heard the same thing from BBill, but BBill said you're suppose to let the Jeep/car idle for 10 mins. to store it in memory. Hmmm.... I did let it idle after the run. Don't know the for sure answer but would LOVE to get one as well!! I guess I shouldn't be bitching. It IS a damn SUV! Haha No weight reduction at all. Actually, I've added weight. I do take out my sub and rear floor section in the back for my system. All 4 doors and the floor is Dynomatted. I've got 2 amps. I would guess the race weight is around 5200-5300 or so. There is NO spare tires for the Jeeps. We have staggered rims and tires. That's why they come with run flats. I usually leave my house with around 1/2 tank and get there around a little less than a 1/4. The nearest station after the track is 10-15 miles so I need to make sure I don't run out after running. I've left the track with the low fuel light on a few times and it's a little scarry in the middle of nowhere about to run out. I even take out the floor mats. There another 5-7lbs. Oh forgot the launch.... I launch at about 1200-1400. Anything over that I'll roast all 4. I usually cut my best times like that.
Damn, i woulda figured at least the Jeep came with a spare. SRT has saved millions on spares it seems.....Maybe remove passenger seat....Does your track run north and south? Wait on a good cold front to come through with a 20 MPH tail wind, that'll do it. You could try some 100 octane or higher and add in some timing.
I think I've got it kinda figured out. During my dyno tune..... from 4700-5000rpms 4.5* of KR was happening. That's the ONLY KR I'm getting. We figured maybe exhaust was rattling or something was. Well, that's a pretty important range to be losing 4.5* of timing. That's right in the shift area. I called my tuner today and told him to desensitize the sensors for those 300 rpms. My guess is resonance from the headers/exhaust system. 3000-4700= 0 KR 5000-6400= 0 KR 4700-5000= -4.5KR I know I'm probably expecting more out of it but I should be in the 12.3 range I would think. There have been other cam only Jeeps running those times. Maybe it's time to go more on the timing and run race gas. Why not? If it blows..... well then, I finally have an excuse for a 440 or throw 15psi at a 392. I just need an actual reason...... Sorry honey but my engine blew. I promise I'm putting another 6.1L in it.
I don't remember.... I'm gonna log my new tune. I think it's around 20-22 or something. Hopefully I'll have my new tune tonight so I can go to my "tuning road" here in town and do a few 1/4 mile runs.
Oops... I need to update my sig. Haha. I sold it and got a double gauge pillar that's unfortunately just sitting in my garage with no gauges yet. I never did the 1/4 with it. Only 0-60's. Best was 3.89 which I'm sure is off some. I'm gonna try that next week. I just got a new tune from Johan a little bit ago. I'm gonna install it and go do some logging tonight. He also sent me a "race" tune with some more timing. I've got 3 tunes from him. My current.... a 2nd one with the 4700-5000 knock sensors desensitized, and a 3rd with them desensitized and more timing. We've got a Sunoco here that sells 100 I might throw in. There a fantastic road here that's 4 lanes with a HUGE median in the middle that's 1 mile long that's ALWAYS deserted. That's my "test road". Gonna hit it tonight and see what it's doing with the 2 tunes. Not gonna run the race tune until I can get some VP 109 for it. I'm sure it'll get figured out........ eventually. Thanks for the heads up Ed.:friends:
and your AFR stays flat through the 4700-5000? where the knr is? ...and the DashHawk is very accurate, for what it sees. The PCM is very accurate on the odometer and speed readings as long as your tire size/gears are right (stock, it's right on). What the DashHawk doesn't see is wheel spin (and I don't think the odometer is off the front wheel). A good wheel spin will get you a better ET. The dashhawk starts when the car moves. At the track it's when you go through the sensor so you could have a bit of a running start. The dashhawk takes instantaneous speed when you cross the 1/4 mark. At the track they take average speed through the last 100(?) feet so it would be a bit slower. All-in-all it's pretty close and it's accurate in that it's consistent, so you can compare one run to the next. Except for that wheel spin thing... but that's kind of the same at the track too. DashHawk is all diag port parameters and calculations. There are no accelerometers in there.
