I'm hitting a plateau with mods and power on the SRT8. If I add any more horsepower or boost, I'll need a built transmission and a roll bar. While the car is still my daily driver, I'm not willing to put the roll bar in right now.

I started thinking about what I would like to build next. I've always wanted a street rod. I have a lot of stock 6.1L engine pieces (valve covers, timing cover, intake manifold, flywheel, etc) lying around so I was thinking of building a '33 hot rod kit from Factory Five with a 6.1L engine.

Thoughts? Ideas for trans, paint, wheels, or wiring system? I've already decided that I'm going to have the frame and suspension powder coated black. I will probably do the hard top without fenders, just like in the pic above. I'm thinking the 3 link rear suspension, Wilwood brakes, and getting the electric power steering option.

That would be bad arse! Fenderless looks cool, but the dirt is a mother to keep off of it! Sweet little ride though!

For sure do it. They are well engineered kits and really simplify the whole build process. Great people as well to deal with. Goodluck

I like that car. I think a 03/04 Termi engine/T56 would be better and easier, but the 6.1 would be unique. For engine management, you can use the MSD setup, you'll need the ignition box:
    http://www.msdignition.com/Products/RPM/Timing_Controls/RPM_Controls/6_HEMI_Ignition_Controller.aspx

    The wiring harness:
    http://www.msdignition.com/Products...88864_-_Harness,_6013_to_Late_Hemi_06-UP.aspx

And if you go EFI, the adapter kit:
    http://www.msdignition.com/product.aspx?id=5127
(not needed if you swap to a carb'd setup...)

What? HAS to be some pearl color (other than black) or a candy apple and then maybe flames.

I agree. The "full" fenders are ugly, but the "bike" style fenders that hug the tires look great.

There a guy here in Hermosa Beach, CA. that shows up to the sat M&G (Caffine Cruziers in South Bay) that is a Factory Five Dealer and has built 4 of the '33's . One with a 347 stroker & the Cobra 4-cam motor. They were nice & well put together.
