Anybody had any experience with the ESP/BAS light just coming on and staying on? Sarah has 29k miles on her and haven't had any issues. Started up to leave my sons football game today and all was well, got about 10 miles down the road and the ESP/BAS light came on along with the traction control light. Both lights stayed on. Shut her off when we got home and restarted and they didn't come back on..but didn't drive down the road or anything. Any ideas??:erm:
May just be a temp glitch....seems I remember that ESP/BAS light coming on a time or 2 on my former Charger.......if it dont come back no worries..
She was just trying to tell you to light her up.. She wanted to smoke 'em. I've never had this happen. I know both lights can come on if you hold the key in "Start" while the engines running, but I think that only is on 08's +, and maybe 07's. But other than that, IDK, could have just been a glitch?
I've had it happen a couple of times. Once when I'd just exited the freeway and was stopped at a light, a car whizzed past fast enough to shake the car and the light came on. Got home, turned the car off then back on and it was gone. Where's Dave, he knows about this stuff, right?
I think the explanation was that sometimes the traction control gets confused when you go from rolling hard (freeway, offramp turns) to completely stopped and then while not rolling, your car gets rocked (like when a car passes going fast). Traction's all "Danger! Danger!" when its really no big deal.
lot of times this is caused by a bad speed sensor in the front wheels. ties into the abs/traction systems. easy fix if in fact this is the issue.
Well, Sarah did it again a couple days ago. Second time now. Bama, if you start to narrow down the cause.. .let me know. I can't reproduce it yet to fully test it. I wonder how we could test that front speed sensor??
