Hi all. Haven't posted much since my SRT-8's been gone, but many of you are aware of my racing in my '68 Camaro tube chassis race car. To make a long story short, here's my best pass from my final race session of the year: And here's a recent pic of the car:
Yup. LOL. It's tons of fun. You all knew I'd be doing this, right? I mean, I took a 13.0 second SRT-8 and turned it into a 10.89 car. When I bought the Camaro it ran about 9.38 and by the end of the first season it ran 9.10 seconds. So I completely rebuilt everything and this year started off with an 8.35 and worked all year until my last session yielded the 8.12 pass. So next year............7.999 is the goal.
This is how Matt accomplished the task... Thread in which the pic came from. lol http://www.srtconnection.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16025
8's are so yesterday *yawn* Good luck on your 7.99 goal, it's soooo hard getting there when you're already going a million MPH. Love the Maro dude, very pimp.
is there a "end goal"? are you just shooting for 7's and then just having fun or is it keep going as low as you can possibly get it?
I think 7.999 is the goal. Then I'll likely dial it back to 8.20 +/- for some regular bracket racing and Quick 16 events.
wow bad ass jmatt .. im a camaro guy at heart .. im still working on my 67! good luck on the 7's baby
The place darn near died. They resurrected it a year or two ago. Not the most organized people in the world, but the hook is good and the owner is pleasant. This was my first tow of more than 5 miles. I was pleased with how my lowly Avalanche handled the task. I think the trailer loaded is 9,000 lbs. Gas mileage was 8.6 average and trans temps stayed in the 170 range most of the time. I've got a sway control load distributing hitch, 4.10 gears, trans cooler and rear air suspension. So it's decent - but right at or just beyond its design intention.
Gezzis Matt, that's way cool. Congrats on another fine project. And get a real truck next time, life will be much better.
Tell me about it. I want an F350 Dually Diesel, but my wife is attached to her Avalanche. Something about "it saved our lives" or "without it we'd be dead." Can't explain her irrational attachment to it now. If you recall....... But I'm working on a 42' quad slide diesel pusher instead.
