Well here it is; I can finally say IT’S DONE. Except for final street tune (Just a little more fine tuning but 99% now) & power/race tune (with added boost and race fuel) to be completed, it is complete. Car drives as it should, very streetable (thanks mainly to the MOTEC system) and does not miss a beat. Starts first up and idles at around 1000rpm until warm then comes down to around 900-950rpm. VIDEO HERE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VnHC_vfFS_A Many have asked how the transmission I have installed works with the car. The T400 works seamlessly now and works in conjunction nicely with the OEM electronics. After much trial and error and many many hours of working out the setup, HP/F got the T400 / B&M ratchet shifter / OEM Electronics-displays to work with the dash lights (gear selection), reverse lights, dipping mirrors, starting in P and N (only). This required (and I still don’t understand this myself but HP/F nailed it) the OEM selector box to be pulled apart and reconfigured to suit. I believe it was also rewired and made to work. All I know is that it does work and works great. VIDEO HERE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3FxfW-_S2b0 The engine bay has been tidied up and looks great. All the bits that were originally bare metal were sent off to either powder coat or polishers. Wiring was tidied up; front pulley guard was trimmed down to look sleeker, final alignment of 10pk belt setup complete and no more slipping. New bonnet was done whilst off the road. The other bonnet I had never really grew on me and was never a fan of it from the start. I LOVE THE NEW ONE and sets the car off perfectly. It was a perfect match and really suits the car IMO. The reverse cowl was made to suit the car then attached to the OEM bonnet. Reason for doing it this way instead of going a full fibreglass bonnet was due to weight. No one could get a glass bonnet to weigh as low as the bonnet as you see it now (between 8-10kg total). Alpha Motorsports did a great job moulding and fitting it to the bonnet and Troy (AIR22 of AAA Body Works) did the finishing off and paintwork. Last but not least, the interior. I had fitted the new Alpine 502E media centre (supporting GPS) which mated up to the Alpine 6 disc DVD player and rear headrest monitors I already had installed. I am still running the Kicker system that came standard with the car, and man has it woken it up. Sounds impressive. The trim surround pieces I had painted in black marble effect paint. Very happy with how it turned out (again thanks to Troy here). I also had the head lining, A, B and C pillar trims redone in black suede. This also included most of the plastic trim pieces that most usually have painted black. Pain of a job but much better finish IMO. The seats I also had changed. The usual black insert I had re-trimmed in a grey leather to match the colour of the bottom half of the doors and dash. These pieces will also be trimmed in leather eventually, but for now I am happy with how it turned out. I am now putting some km’s (miles) on it now to try and find anything else that may need attention but so far so good. The plan now is to sort out the race (and final) power tune with the added boost we can now hold in the engine and finally get it to the track. I am hoping and wanting to do this ASAP, but it is a little hard with the only decent track available to me being interstate, more than 1000km or 12 hours drive away. But I will get it there and cannot wait to share this with you all. Thanks to all forum members who have followed and supported this build over the last 18 months. It has been a pleasure sharing this with you all. Special thanks must of course go to HP/F and their staff for the amazing work they have done on my car. Nothing was easy and at times very challenging, yet they still pulled it together for me to end up with a car that is better and more powerful than I ever imagined it could. From the engine build, transmission setup and install, fabrication, MOTEC setup, rear end everything, I could not imagine anyone else doing this for me...THANKS GUYS. Also need to thank Yella Terra who helped with the blower system, PPP for their support and products (Andy included), BMC and team for getting bits and pieces over the duration of this build, HHP for the Moroso gear, Arrington Engines (including the late Mark Burkhardt) for all their assistance, parts and advice. TO THE TRACK WE GO........................
