Well I've kept these pictures up wraps for w while now but i think it's time to wake some people up with reality...

So i went on a canyon cruise with some LX's back in August...it was somewhat fun....not my cup of tea but it was something new...

Well towards the end of the cruise a charger owner in our group supposedly tried to pass 3 LX's, going approx 80mph+, in a no pass double yellow zone, around a blind turn....then smacked head on into a full size Suburban with 4+ passengers.....

The accident resulted in a single fatality.

The driver suffered injuries as well as the other vehicle occupants including a femur fracture...

Now i'm not perfect...i've street raced in secluded areas in the past and i'll admit it's not safe or smart.....and it doesn't justify my actions to say it's ok because i didn't endanger others...and being a paramedic i should know better though we have all done stupid things...but NOBODY had any idea of why the driver made the decision he did....we were towards the end and not one of us had passed anybody...especially in those circumstances....

I wish it never happened...my greatest condolences to you and all others affected

People...take this as a lesson learned next time your adrenaline is up and you are about to show off....recklessly...WITH others or AROUND others...what you do to yourself by yourself is up to you....but don't endanger others

Don't let your lesson learned be the last lesson of your life

very unfortunate and the driver is potentially facing criminal charges. Unfortunately it cost him the life of his gf... which may be harder to deal with..

Thanks for this dose of reality. I too have done some things behind the wheel of a car that I'm not proud of, although not to the level described here. I think that a frank discussion about these types of things on the day of the event is an appropriate way to keep people driving sensibly. Nearly every near miss I've had behind the wheel has been due to the "idiot" in the other lane. The older I get the more defensively I drive.

You guys have kept quite for awhile.
I believe most members thought the crash happened before the cruise.

You have to bear and now remember a heavy scene that will "flash back" on you forever. I have been involved with bad fatality crashes also.

Man... bad news there. Was the roof removed after the accident, or did that happen during impact?

I remember reading the post on LX. Very sad indeed. Pictures make it stick in your brain. What a huge price to pay for a flyby. May she rest in peace, and a speedy recovery to Cesar.

Its a shame. Driving a car is like carrying a weapon. A really big weapon where the only safety is you. You can easily kill yourself, the people in your car, people in other cars, pedestrians. The only semi-sane place to really cut loose is at the track and under controlled circumstances and even then you can still get planted in a concrete wall if you get overzealous.

Its a shame that so many people have to learn this the hard way. Prayers for his girlfriend and his girlfriend's family and for him, since he gets to live with this lesson.

    Ugh... what horrible pictures..

We can all talk and say "oh i wont ever race!" but when it comes down to it... they might show off...

In the old mustang group i was a part of we lost a member to a impromptu street race. It taught many a lesson, but to many it was all talk...

the old groups leader was the king of talking about no street racing but the second we go on a canyon cruise he is blindly flying through the canyon trying to be the top dawg... and others are trying to compete with him... i was completely ashamed of his actions and others...

You can hurt your self and others anytime you get in the car.... is it ever really a SAFE situation?

Sucks that this happend... maybe some of the yonger guys will take it to heart the next time they want to street race, or just show off... its not worth it.
