its smart you had everything welded in. for awhile some clowns were recommending you just bolt it in with fasteners.

dropping the exhaust out is a pita, but imho, you should look at back pressure first.

I agree that you should consider the exhaust, but your tunes show a vacuum leak so I would start with the intake manifold first and then check out the exhaust.

Got to it tonight. Car, other than a whole lot louder, runs the same. The Zoomers cat back was removed (attached right after the x-pipe).

Well, rule out the exhaust. I'll try to find some way to check more dilligently for intake leaks.

By the way, here are the logs from earlier.

    Pulled the cat back off:
    http://www.telusplanet.net/public/cpeirens/Logs/CannedPerf91CAI_ZoomersRemoved_01.log

Re-installed and on the road in less than an hour:
    http://www.telusplanet.net/public/cpeirens/Logs/CannedPerf91CAI_ZoomersReinstalled_01.log

I had loaded the Pref 91 CAI canned tune and added some (10/15/15) fuel to minimize the ST knk.

Best run was actually with the exhaust installed at 13.54 at 107 mph. Still lags until around 3500, and then it seems to overcome it's issue.

Well,if you find no vacuum leaks at all and your logs still show a vacuum leak I would do a leakdown if I were you and see if maybe you have an intake valve hanging open a hair.

I'll do my best to look for the vacuum leak. If one can't be found, I'll go this route and do the leakdown test. And while I have each sparkplug out, I can inspect its condition and regap if necessary.

If none of this works for a few hundred bucks I know a guy who likes to play with fuel and matches.

    Clayton,

Here's something you can try ... I had the same mods as you and got great gains at the track with an e-mail tune from SVS R&D (Sacramento, CA). Bob, who does the tuning, sent me the e-mail tune (with same mods) for free and told me if I liked it to give him $100 or so. I recommend you give him a call and politely ask if he'll give you a similar deal. That way you can rule out the tuning or have a fix for $100.

Thanks for the suggestion. When/if I have an extra $100 I might try this as well.

Having said that, I would find it a little unusual if both Steve @ RDP and Johan @ Diablo couldn't make the car run better if it was a tune issue.

Still, I guess anything is possible. But I will not spend any more money on tunes until I've exhausted all other avenues first.

My point was to discuss it with him and possibly he could send you the tune to try and if it fixed the problem you could pay him. It would be a win-win either way. Just need to talk to Bob to see if he's willing to do something like this (I think he would). If you want I can ask him and if you both agree you can e-mail him your base tune. I don't work for SVS or get any kickbacks, I just am trying to help.

I've heard mixed reviews about RDP and tuning and Johan has tweaked my tunes for the worse in the past.

I still think you should interrupt PWR to the DSS module, the CAN buss will ignore it's I/P until the next key cycle. Any throttle/fuel management controlled by the 3-axis gyro system will no longer be in play (all 3 levels of ESP)..

Get back to your holiday ya goof!!! (meant with respect, of course).

Gimme a buzz when you're back in town. I've got a lot of little (relatively inexpensive) things to try to diagnose my problem.

Can someone explain to me what I need to look for in the ADAP %'s to suggest there's an intake leak? I "may" have found something that wasn't properly tight and would like to determine if this fix has made a difference.

The easiest way to find a leak is to run the car at idle and spray startergas where you might think you have a leak, if the rev goes up, you sure have a leak and you also know where....

Thanks, already tried that with carb cleaner. No change in idle. According to the logs (Johan @ Diablo, and others) the fuel trims suggest an vacuum leak of some sort. I was just looking for some information on how to recognize that in the logs so I can compare the before and after to see if anything I had done made a difference.

Jusy for sh!ts and giggles, I installed an RDP CAI in the car last night, and swapped my stock TB for TJ's stock TB (just something else to rule out). We made sure all the connections were tight.

This morning I made two logs while going to/from Calgary. Can someone with more understanding than me please look at the logs and tell me if they still see a vacuum leak?

Well, if nothing else is causing issues, I can take the throttle body off my list for potential problems (not that I ever thought it could have been). The car is still a pig off the line up to almost 4000 rpm.

Once I get confirmation that there's still a vacuum leak (shown in the logs, with some sore of explanation), I'll be pulling the intake manifold off first, and if nothing appears out of place, I'll be doing a leak down test.
