Rebuilding my 426 in progress. Well, it's gotta be rebuilt and no one else is going to do it. First parts arrived and so begins the parts pile... Nice sunrise a few days ago at work:
I know the reason sucks, but at least you'll get a good project out of it and you'll know its done right this time. Good luck! Any questions, feel free to ask.
Nuttin better than doing it yourself Jon. Good luck and don't hesitate to call if you have a question.
Best of luck, and I will be watching your project closely. It's going to get better, keep the faith!!
good luck and have fun with the build jon!!!! and scott, i am sure you will be running very soon!!! lol
Hey buddy. She's gonna run waaaaaay better than she ever did. And this way, you get to see to it first hand. Keep us all posted bro, and best wishes. You've got a group of fellas on this site that care about you, and seems like they're backing you all the way.....
Guys, you are all the Shiznit. Funny how things come about, but a big fucking round for all your asses if I ever come to meet you...and you can hold me to that!!! Once my pistons come in things will go pretty quickly. Say....3 weeks. I can't wait to pay for the work. btw Scott, wtf??? I thought you found your issue? Man, I hope what's holding you up is not what I think is holding you up... CHEERS FELLAZZZ!!!
Jon, good help is only a click or a call a way, plenty of good guys here that are happy to assist. Why the new lifters? Piece of mind? Are you filing your new rings and fitting the pistons? Changing your cam bearings as well? I'll be watching this build with giddy anticipation. Good luck Homie!
LOL. RTFO Kyle! The ring/piston combo was a little bit of an issue as 4.085" is a screwy bore. Sealed Power had to mix and match to come up with a set of rings for me. Then I had to call Wiseco and get 1.5mm top and second ring grooves on my custom pistons instead of 1.2mm as I couldn't find rings in that size. (forgot about the lifter question...I ordered new lifters when I was troubleshooting the weird knock. May as well use them) Big props to Andy Underwood as he is the one helping me out here...and he has no good reason to do so. Well, maybe he does as I have threatened to come down there and kick his catfish-ass just because...LOL Andy, thank you bro!!! More pics to follow.
I am going to just post them all so here goes: Cylinder 1 (broken ring land) and 3 One main bearing a little tight? Piston and rod pics:
Damn, the skirts look horrible... Andy Underwood...hmmm sounds vaguely familiar. Andy is a great guy, and has lots of contacts...And if he isn't swamped with work, he will actually get back to you. LOL... So that's a No on the cam bearing question?
