found a 18-G turbo from a local here for 200. will it work on my car? and if so, what, if any benifits would i see?:help:
You will need to find a manifold that supports it... Rumor has it the stock manifold can me altered to fit the exhaust side, but I haven't seen it applied yet...
yeah i wouldnt touch the turbo, its gonna cost you way more money than its worth. and the 18g is not a very good turbo at all.
Sean, I know you hate the Mitsu G series turbo. Can you please explain why WRX guys get all hard over them?
It's cause they don't know better and it's jdm yooo The only turbo kit you should get would be a AGP kit
Excuse my lack of knowledge on the srt4 but isn’t the stock turbo a 16g? If not what is the stock turbo? (I do not own a dodge anything.)
Stock TD04-16G – 300hp seems to be the hp goal for this baby Inducer: 1.71” Exducer: 2.21” Mopar Stage3 TD05-15G – 350 is easy, 400hp is the goal for this one. Crappy manifold design seems to be the limiting factor here Inducer: 1.94 Exducer: 2.56 Mitsubishi 16G6 (EVO. VIII wheel) – same as the stage3, 400hp seems to be the goal Inducer: 1.89” Exducer: 2.68” Hahn Super16g – 350hp and near stock spool time!!! Inducer: 1.83” Exducer: 2.36” as you can see the stocker is smaller
the subie dudes are all hard over the MHI turbos because its the only thing that fits in without an ass load of modification. if they want to run a t3 sized turbo they have to get a new exhaust mani/uppipe, a fmic setup and some aftermarket boost control setup. not to mention a fully built motor. another main reason is spool time, most of the subie dudes dont like going any bigger than a MHI 6 or 7cm^2 exhaust housing with a small compressor because of the crazy subie exhaust manifold that creates tons of lag to begin with. and just for correction the stock srt turbo is a TD04LR-15GK-6cm^2 which means its a little smaller than the little 16g and that its also a reverse rotation assembly. the 6cm^2 part refers to the exhaust housing, and in essence spool time, the 6cm^2 housing is pretty darn small which is why the stock turbo spools up so quick. the smaller size of the exhaust housing also limits over all efficiency of the turbo and in turn overall power potental. which is the same reason the stage 3 turbo is a 10cm^2 exhaust housing.
I have have noticed how much sooner and faster the srt4 spools compared to my GT2554R turbo in my mazdaspeed protege. I kind of wish mine would spool that quick. However I always tought the T3/T4 was alwasy in reference to the flange setup and not the actual size of the turbo. Edit: Most of the turbo talk (compressor and turbine maps) are all jap to me.
well when you have a t3 sized turbine there is only a certain range of sizes the compressor can fit into, most of which are fairly large
