I have a AMG SL55 , A roadster convertible hard top, this is my 2nd SL, the first I leased in 07, it was a SL550, 382 HP NA. I'm still in love with my SL55, it is the only car I never , not even once! thought about trading in! the SL55 is a supercharged V8, the CL65 as yopu know is twin turbo V12, (S classw/2 doors)I would check any used Turbo or S/C Mercedes service records out on the vehicle, I almost pulled the trigger on a used SL65, however, I had the service records checked, and was notified the car was in the shop 20 times in less than 12,000 miles! do your homework, gat a warranty, somewhow! FYI, just rotors and pads on my SL are $1,000.00! these are expensive! I've had good luck with the AMG'S so far, thay are well built. Good luck. Side note, I like to drive my SRT8 300 better! Nasty V8, Lumpy Idle, Fast!!!!!
Funny you guys are talking about this. I was doing some research and I think I might pick up a 04/05 E55 AMG Kompressor - about $20K and run low 12's at 116ish. My wife saw the pics and was astounded. I need to ask my friend who had one long term about the reliability.
But also look at it this way.. What about the refinement that your "20g'z y0" cannot buy? The interior more specifically speaking. I mean you can spend "20g" on engine mods but you still don't have the interior the MB will have.
