It was a long day at the track yesterday.. Testing out the swapping of 3.23 gears in my 300 and 3.55 gears in "Big Al's" TT Challenger.

By the way this Twin Turbo was TUNED by a by one of our very own supporting Vendors...!!!
    (Brent from DTP )

OH MAN When does going down the track in 11 secs seem slow ?

WHEN you HOT LAP in a fast car ! Yup I made a lap in my car going down the track 11.54 @ 120 then faster than you can say BOO got out and jumped into "Big Als" Twin Turbo Challenger driving back into the staging lanes and ran 10.62 @ 139.96.

Talk about a getting a kick in the rear feeling but the blank blank 60 ft was terrible 1.89 60 FT But boy oh boy it really did feel like a kick in the rear about 70 ft into the lanes as the car SQUATED and took the heck OFF and it was HANG on to the Steering wheels for the Ride !

Okay that was fun.... the next chance ... again... 60 ft was even worse a 1.90
    and went 10.64 @ 140.20 dang ....

Okay now that I am back down to earth.... with a smile you could not smack off my face the first thing that came to mind was ......does anybody know of a good solution for launching a Turbo car... ? As we have a problem with TERRIBLE LAG...

Oh well at least those runs would have put me in the TOP TEN of the timeslip database flying right by REDFOX0099 and right smack on FLYBYU's rear but then I was not in my car so it doesn't count

Serously though... anybody know got any ideas how in the heck you tame that TERRIBLE turbo lag so that you can get a decent 60 ft ?

Attached are timeslips of 140 mph run yesterday and one of Big's AL's inital runs on 21st of Aug with me on the other side.

How about a little 100 shot off the line?

Did you gain anything with the 3.55 gears?

Very nice James.... you definitely acquire a whole new perspective on things at 140mph in the 1/4 eh?

Some simple things you can do for turbo spool are to heat wrap the exhaust piping and turbo itself to retain as much heat as possible going into the housing. Additionally, much can be accomplished in the tune itself with timing/fuel to create hotter EGT's.

    Just some thoughts..

    ***Update***

We are slowly inch by inch learning to launch this beast.

    Big Al managed to run a 10.35 @ 140 with a 1.80 60 ft.
I wiggled my way into running a 10.16 @ 141 with a 1.60 60 ft.... doing the press with all your foot strength brake stall.

Time to change that signature time again. Very impressive. Sounds like someone needs to develope at transbrake for our cars pretty soon. I understand that the 727 torqueflite bolts right up. Hmmm?
