Ok everyone so I have an 03 srt4 with a 3147 kit and am in the process of building the engine and boring it so I'm looking at about 400fwhp on pump so heres my question..... Aside from losing every race off the line and possibly learning how to launch off the line better with the new mods, what are the different possible ways to keep the car on the ground?

The car is a street car so I dont really want radials i want street tires and dont really want to buy 4 new wider rims so I'm going to run on Falken 452's. I was thinking about buying a lsd since they are not stock on the 03s like they are on 04 or 05, but my sources say that may not be worth the 1500 dollars I would have to spend. (thanks for the advice Sean lol) so any other advice on if I really need to dish out the money for the lsd or any other ways to help control the car better without spinning until 3rd gear? Also, will i pass emissions with everything upgraded like it is? i have the non fouler mod to prevent any emission codes from being thrown. Any advice is appreciated and sorry for such a long post. thanks in advance everyone

I am not the best when it comes to the Skittles, but as you know, there are many skittles roaming the streets of ABQ. haha

Sean is a wealth of knowledge for the SRT4. Not sure how you are going to keep traction on streets? You might want to give Mario (505StreetRacer) or Mike (PrimoBro) a shout, but I know both have traction issues.

    Which Skittle are you? Pix?

Keep in mind this is a FWD car, the more power your putting down the harder its going to be to tackle traction. There's a few things you can do.

N2MB racing sells a WOT Box w/2-step as well as a Boost Box, I recommend both. The Boost Box from N2MB is an electronic boost controller but the best for these cars without having to go AEM EMS. The N2MB Boost Box is actually commanded Boost by Gear. So you set the boost you want in each gear. I was one of the beta testers for N2MB on the Boost Box. I could slam the gas pedal at a dead stop with no tire spin and had traction due to reducing the boost level in 1st gear and 2nd gear. So feathering of the gas/clutch in hopes to not burned through tires wasn't needed.

You can also get Bwoody Traction Bars w/H-brace. Seems to help quite a bit with traction and I got to take my friends SRT-4 out after he installed it... you can definately feel the difference.

Some say solid mounts (engine and transmission) help some what as well. Bwoody, AGP, and a few other companies sell them.

I have boomba solid engine mounts and for the boost controller i have the AEM boost gauge/electronic controller. I guess maybe it's the FWD you just gotta put up with it just gets frustrating getting beat off the line everytime and having to make up three cars in third gear. thank you for the advice though I plan on getting the EMS here after i get my new clutch put in.

Also, Ill post some pics of my car as soon as im done getting some work done on it here in the next few weeks

Where I live the fast Neons at the drags all have solid mounts. I saw one that didn't have them and the wheel hop was horrendous. I know a guy that had a best of 13.2 with Falkens and then changed tires(i can't remember to what but it was a street tire) and then ran 12.9. Pick your tires carefully.

well like i said ive got almost the power setup as you joey and i hook up almost flawlessly, as long as i dont hammer the 1-2 shift

    my traction aids include:
    245/40/17 Falken 452's
ACR struts/sways, struts set to 4f/5r
solid torque strut mounts and tranny mount
HKS EVC IV with setup to have a real gentle onset of boost

if i were you i'd invest in some wheels and tires and see how it feels, as i recall you are running some pretty cheap all seasons correct? even just some sticky street tires could make a giant difference. if you are not too worried about replacing your tires quite often check out the new Nitto NT-05's i've been hearing some might good things about them.

i did have traction issues with the above setup untill i switched to the wider tire, going from a 225/45/16 FK452 to a 245/40/17 FK 452 made a huge difference

yes sir right now I'm on the 912s i believe but I'm going to switch to the 452s and im still on the stock wheels so wider wheels will probably help so I think I'll change those and get some struts. I have the upper and lower mounts but no tranny mount so I'm assuming Ill need that to?

Again, thank you for the help

I'm running BC coil-overs, GT Cruiser front/ACR rear sway bars and 225 45 18 tires, and there is a very noticeable difference in traction in my car and the Mrs GT Cruiser. And her car is putting down a lot less hp to ground than my Neon.

Rage Tek LCA bushings or Prothane LCA bushings. IF you can adjust the dampening on those ACR struts. Set the rear as stiff as possible.

Practice is the main thing you need though. Drag racing can be quite expensive and is very hard on the car.

Ok thanks for the advice everyone I really appreciate all the input. I think sways with a nicer tire, coilovers, and that tranny mount should do the trick. After that just more practice, so thanks for all the help again.
