imo they are all good i have the protorque and i am very pleased with its performance
those who are running other brands will tell you the same about thiers so my advice is call the companies talk with them about what you want and make your decision from there

    ^^^ Very true.

However, Protorque and PI have had issues within the LX community. I have yet to hear anyone with a Sun Coast TC have a failure or an issue.

Any idea how many Sun Coast Converters are running in LX's?
I know you are running one, but haven't seen many others, good or bad seems there are mostly PI and PT out there.

Quite a few actually. The only thing that GSM seemed to get right. lol

If I had to guess, I would say at least 40 Sun Coast TC's????

You should add failure rate as a criterium

yea, sort of... the one you think "best" might only be because you think the others are worse. I know you're a really sensitive kind of guy but you don't want to exclude people with "if you don't have anything positive to say then don't say anything at all".:rofl:

I don't know what I have for sure. I had a custom APS built way back. Wayne call it "The Challenger" It was designed for 800 to 850 lbs of torque. SGTSTANKO, Steve, told me that GSM had put my TQ converter in someone elses car, Fred's, I believe, while mine was down for the 426. What was strange, Dan called me and asked me what stall my converter was during that time. Steve sent me a copy of an inter office email stating what was going on in the shop, and it said that they were waiting for a converter for my car from Suncoast. I questioned Scott and Dan about it, and they assured me that I had my converter.
When I picked my car up, the converter seemed stiff, didn't flash like it did before, and just seemed non-responsive. I would have assumed with the additional tq and hp that the converter would have even been a little looser than before. Should have flashed when kicking down at low rpm, it didn't for along time, and isn't consistant.
I picked Rodney up in August, and haven't been to the track with him yet.
So I quess I'll never know until the tranny comes out for replacement someday.
I got my APS in November 2006.
I vote for other, which was my APS.

I had an APS 2800 that may as well have been stock. Money refunded. I got a PI 2800 when my 426 went in from PPP and have never looked back...Stalls correctly, reliable, consistent and no funny wobbly feelings when cruising at low RPMs.

Well, I decided to go with a ProTorque 2800, only time will tell how it works out with the new TPL 427. I’ll reserve my comments to later on when the motor is installed and I’m up and running.

i had the rdp (edge) convertor taken out about an hour ago. i installed a 2800 pro torque and things are MUUUUUUUCH better now!!!!

funny thing.....when i ordered the rdp unit last year, i was led to believe it was a unit built specifically by rdp and was better than the competition.....hence the price...... lets just say i have a rather heavy, expensive, white painted paper weight in my trunk right now.

I've heard that the inside's of all of them are very close to the same when taken apart.

Heard that someone is working on a MUCH better 1 for all of us, one day at least

Think that the Jeep guys have had good luck with the Edge and PT
