Drove the car for the first time today, since my last concerned thread I posted about 10 days ago. Cruisin about 40mph, stomped on it, and the car didn't go anywhere!!!!! Just revved up, and sat there at 40mph. So I KNOW at this point, it's got nothing to do with fluid level, or TCM. SOMETHING IS FUCKING BROKE ALREADY!!! My question is, is it the torque converter or the tranny?????? It did it twice today, so I turned around and went back home. I'm not getting fuckin stuck again. I'm pretty sure this is a sign of a torque converter gone bad, as I VERY FREAKIN HIGHLY DOUBT this has anything to do with Eddie's friggin righteous transmission, but what do you guys think??? I want this fixed, and fixed fast.........both converter and trans are brand new with less than 400 miles on them.
I would hope the converter Chase. But lotta work went on inside that thing. New clutch plates, the valve body. What has Eddy said??.
I'll be talking with him in the morning. I left him a message at the shop. I have his cell phone number, but I have too much respect for a man and his family time to bother him today. I hope to talk with him tomorrow afternoon on my lunch break. This just happened today.
chase I hope its a minor thing buddy. And if all for bid it is the trans you know eddie will help make it right hes a pro!
Here's the route I'm going now...... #1) Buying a tranny disptick off ebay tonite, to check levels this weekend. #2) Talking with Jack @ Precision Industries tomorrow to get a new converter. (That is, if he knows what's good for him) #3) Get new converter installed next week, and flush transmission, and check filter. If either #2 or #3 doesn't happen, then I'm gonna be fuckin pissed beyond belief!!!!!!!!!!!!!! After talking with Eddie at SHR at length tonight, his diagnosis is it's 100% converter failure. I work way too fuckin hard, and my whole build isn't anything "crazy" enough to warrant all the bullshit I've had to endure since my 426 install last year. This is all a bit beyond ridiculous, I have a very basic build in the whole scheme of things. I JUST WANT MY CAR TO WORK AND BE FINISHED SO I CAN DRIVE THE MUTHER FUCKIN THING ON A REGULAR BASIS INSTEAD OF SITTING IN MY DAMN GARAGE "WAITING TO BE FIXED" FOR SOME VARIOUS REASON!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rant over, sorry, had to vent.........my bad. I promise I'm not a little bitch. From this point forward, I will only be dealing with Eddie at SHR. This guy has been a damn gem to deal with. He answers questions, gives advice and diagnosis, he knows his shit, and most importantly.....he makes himself available and treats you with respect. Matter of fact, Eddie's been the most helpful out of anyone I've ever dealt with on this kind of level. If things don't pan out with my 3 options above, he'll be my choice of business from this point forward. I take my hat off to you Eddie, you're a good man. I just may be buying a converter from you, as I doubt the peeps at PI will do anything, and I don't know if I even want another one of their piece of shit converters anyway.......
Ummm, yes you are. lol Yes, Eddie is awesome which is why I was quick to refer you to Eddie when you first asked about tranny's... Hope all works to your benefit, Chase. I feel for ya brotha...
PI converters are garbage.......i hear....... If not swap then go for a Protorque....who i hear is coming out with some new upgrades due out next month
I have a PI 3600 and never a problem...I would look at the LSX crowd before you say they are garbage....plenty plenty of 9 and 10 second cars running them. Eddie seems to be the real deal....i'm sure you won't go wrong dealing with SHR. And Chase...you wanna talk about PROBLEMS.....Give me a call brutha...I'll make you feel good.
Good luck getting everything straightened out. Hopefully, PI will come through for you. Yea, Eddie is the real deal. After talking with him, there was no doubt which transmission I was going with. I'm usually surprised just to find decent customer service, but Eddie goes above and beyond.
Chase, Sun Coast Converters are AWESOME. I have had my 2800 stall for three years now, and not one slip (pun intended lol). Sun Coast is located in Florida, in case you want to research a bit. True story...
I think you're going to need a scan tool that reads the ATF temp. A DashDAQ (available from Redfox-Racing) will do that.
