I thought it was going to be the usual T/Stat code. Today i hooked up the Predator to clear it, and this came up:

P0430 Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 2)

I went ahead and cleared it. Should i be concerned about this? It's never happened before. btw I've had high flow cats on the car for well over a year with no prob.

You don't need to worry about the cat efficiency one. You've probably been close to getting that all along and probably just now bumped over the threshold. You might end up having to "disable" the rear 02 sensors with the Predator.

What you do need to worry about is those codes "masking" some other one that could be important. CEL is always on and you're thinking "it's the T-stat or cat code" when there could be something more serious happening.

Yes. At least. You might be able to get rid of both those codes.

I think if you set your fans a bit higher when you're not at the track it might help the t-stat code. I'm guessing you're running a 160? maybe a 170? It will throw a t-stat code if the engine doesn't warm up to some temp in some amount of time for some number of key cycles. The temp is somewhere around 167 to 170something. The time to get there after starting the engine I don't know. If it happens once it remembers. If it happens then next some_number of times you start the car it throws the code. If you were to set your low speed fan to turn on at something like 180 you might not get that code.

To get rid of the cat code (if it starts throwing it regularly) you would disable the rear 02 sensors. The predator doesn't actually disable them but it does suppress that code from being generated (I'm not sure they do anything else). That code is a "passive" one. The PCM does not take any action other than to thow the code. I think the t-stat code is the same.

I'm assuming they still got the option to disable the rear 02 sensors in the Predator. They might have removed that option in later versions? or maybe it was removed for different cars... If the predator can't do it, it can be done using CMR.

Well, i got the codes again. This time Bank 1 and Bank 2. Went ahead and cleared them. I guess next time I'll see if i could disable the rear o2 censors. Can someone explain to me why this is happening? Just wondering.

High flow cats usually do the job just below the OBD threshold, with use and wear, you've exceeded that threshold...turn em off and fugitaboutit.

Ask Cam to install antifoulers when he does the rest of the car......that will keep the codes from coming back.
