Well it was my sons last day of school yesterday and I'm sure he was glad to leave 3rd Grade behind and get started on his summer vacation. He got out early so his uncle picked him up and took him to his work. His uncle works at an auto auction and he loves going there as the owner lets my son do whatever he wants. He usually plays on the computer and rides on the various ATV's out on the lot which is VERY big. He got bored inside the office and decided to take the Kawasaki Mule out for a spirited drive (yeah trying to be like daddy I'm sure). He apparently made it to the back of the lot when some of the employees heard a loud CRASH and then the screams and crying from my son. He apparently found some barrels to drive around and the back and forth motion of the Mule was too much and it flipped over. Luckily he had strapped himself in but he is going to have a bad summer healing his right hand which has 2nd degree burns and alot of missing skin. I can only think how bad it could of been if he did not put on the seat belt harness. I was at my office and met him and his uncle there and they rushed him right to the back and began working on his hand and doing x-rays. It's not broken but has swollen up pretty bad on the back side. They had him soak his hand in some type of water for a while and had him on an IV with pain medication. He was a trooper through the whole thing. They put some neosporin like gel on there and then cleaned off as much asphalt as he could tolerate last night and put some burn cream on his hand and wrapped him up, I had to repeat the process this morning and it took about an hour. We go back Monday to the trauma center for an evaluation. His poor uncle was in tears at the hospital and was cussing himself for letting this happened I felt bad for the guy and dont hold him responsible just glad my boy is alive and nothing worse happened. Here is how his hand looks some may have weak stomaches so dont look if you cant handle it. This morning after me getting him all fixed back up and some Tylenol with codeine. He apparently by instinct put his hand out while it rolled over to its side and it was drug across the asphalt. Gasoline spilled all over his pants and shoes so we had to run to Academy and get some new shoes and some Crocs that he could just slip on and off easily
Ouch! Hope that heals up ok and quickly. No broken bones is good. No back/neck injuries is better. No head injuries is even better yet.
wow that sucks wade. I know how hes feeling right now. it could have been worse. i know in my past case it was worse. i lost part of my hand and had 2nd and 3rd degree burns on my hand, arm, stomach, and inside leg. and 1st degree burns on my neck cheek ear. I know it sucks for him. i can just feel it. seeing those pics reminds me of what happened to me. by the looks of it, it should heal up just fine.

LOL i wont dought it. if he's seen my vids then yeah i guess im to blame!!! :whistle: yeah his hand should heal up just fine. hope he's more careful next time.
Only good thing here is it was not as bad as it could have been...hope it heals quickly so he can enjoy his summer break......you got a smart kid there..he used the seat belts!
Wow! Glad it wasn't anything worse than it is ... nothing broken or left in the lot!! I hope he gets better soon ... and I hope your brother (in-law??) feels better too ... I'm sure he feels horrible ... but these things happen with outgoing boys. Lord knows I left enough skin, blood, and guilt at babysitters and aunt/uncles houses from bmxing, skateboarding, and just general boyness I hope he gets back on the Mule too and that this incident doesn't scare him away from such activities ... even if he is a little more conservative in the turns oh::stars:
Dude! He is so lucky thats all that happen. Glad to hear he'll be fine though. Thats what boys do, they fall and hurt themselves. Tell him, pain is temporary and glory is forever!! Next thing you know he'll be out doing it again with a buddy!
Man... looks like he'll have to learn to use the X-Box controls with one hand for a while. Glad it wasn't any worse. Hope he heals with no scars or issues.
THANKS everyone. Have an appointment with a trauma specialist this morning to access the damage. He has been such a trooper about the whole thing to where most grown men would be whining all day-LOL. He's figured out how to play vid games with one foot and his left hand (very funny to watch). He was with his mother this weekend and I surprised him and took him out to dinner at Texas Roadhouse, his and my favorite. Will update you later on his progress and appreciate all the well wishes.
Crap Wade, that sucks for the little guy, give him my best. And I'm very happy it wasn't worse, we all know it could have been. :hug: Hell man, scars are tattoo's for the brave! :rockon:
