I liked HUM-Vs until GM started making them into steroidal soccer mom deathmobiles. So yeah, not terribly upset about this. The military ones are nothing like the civilian ones.

Wasn't looking at it that way. Hell, Marc won't buy anything for Madeline that says "Made in China". He's American first, Chinese-descent second. I'm just a redneck of Irish descent. :bigwink:

    Yeah, I was all...wtf?

Have to say, as much as I love my car and I love Mopars and Chevys and all that, the companies were just dying a slow death. Granted the way things are being handled, with delayed bankruptcies and bail-outs and nationalization sucks a big one.

I don't know why Obama and friends have to try and reinvent the wheel, bankruptcy proceedings were designed to help companies in this situation, whether through reorganization or calling a dead dog a dead dog, but here we are. Honestly, I'm not planning on buying a vehicle made after say 2009 unless things change drastically. At least I'll be keeping Kragen and aftermarket places in business.

I didn't think they did when I posted it. That was after doing some research. Then, I went back to the AM General site and it was scrolling through pics and a "Hummer H1" popped up. WHOOPS!!

Actually they were talking tonight about that very subject and it was stated that the "Military" side of the Hummer production is not the one being sold to the little people.

Not sure how Obama takes the blame for GM and Chrysler's years of mismanagement? I believe what is currently taking place is a rescuing of core GM to ensure its 670,000 pensioners don't get screwed. If you think 7 to 10% unemployment is bad, imagine 670,000 people on welfare. The unions are what killed GM. My father worked for GM for 30+ years. He worked hard and put himself through college so that he could make $39,000 yr. working for GM. While his union counterpart was making $75,000 a year as a plumber or working the line at Saginaw Steering gear.

One of the things Obama should be blamed for is the Employee Free Choice Act. If this thing passes we're all screwed.

humvee's are being phased out by the mrap's (big mistake) which are made by oshkosh and a couple other manufacturers.
